MLB All-Star Game - Run-Line Props Could Yield Profits

The MLB All-Star Game is tonight, that summer classic where online MLB betting fans could find a way to make some serious money, and BetUS will have some prop betting for baseball betting fans eager to make a wager on this game other then the classic money-line.

The MLB All-Star game is different then every other all-star game in the sense that the winner of this game, whether it be the National or American League, ultimately receives home-field throughout the World Series. Considering that the American League still employs the designated hitter, and the National League does not, this game has become very important.

In any case, BetUS Sportsbook is offering some various run-lines as well as an interesting total line. Let’s dissect those on-line bets right now!

Total Runs + Hits + Errors

The BetUS online odds makers have set the total for all runs, hits and errors at 30. The online betting odds are – 125 to go over 30 and – 105 to go under 30. 30 is a large number for any online gambling proposition but this is the MLB All-Star game. I’m thinking around 16 to 20 total hits which means that there could easily be 10 to 16 total runs. That would leave very few errors needed in order to get to the magic number of 30. I’m going to say that the number goes over 30.

Score 1st

Like the online wagering odds on the above prop, the odds on this prop favor the National League. The National League is – 125 to score first. The American League is – 105. The idea in dissecting this prop is to think about how each starting pitcher may do in that 1st inning. MLB All-Star games are notorious for high-scores. With Carl Lee starting for the American League and Ben Sheets for the National League, things could be different early on in this game. I’m going to say that Sheets gives it up before Lee does and go with the National League at – 125 online wagering odds.

Alternate Run-Lines

There are two alternate run-lines that BetUS is offering in tonight’s All-Star Game. The first involves 1 ½ runs with the National League at – 1 ½ + 170 and the American League at + 1 ½ - 130. This game should be close as both teams will field the best players in either dug-out.

I have to take the American League at the – 130 online betting odds.

The second alternate run-line involves 2 ½ runs. The National League is + 2 ½ - 280. The American League is – 2 ½ + 210. Neither run-line is all that attractive to me, but I do believe that if there is one team that could blow this game wide open it is the American League.

Because of that, I will go with the American League at – 2 ½ at + 210. Could they beat the National League by three runs? Probably not, but the wager makes much more sense then having to put up an extra 180 bucks in order to get the National League at + 2 ½ runs.
