AL $$$ Power Poll through 7/5
The month of July is here, meaning the MLB betting season is halfway through. Check out this week’s list of American League teams and how they’re doing for sports betting fanatics as we head into the All-Star Break…
1) Texas Rangers (45-35, +$1,115) (5-1, +$440 LW) (LW: 4) What a week it was for the Rangers! After taking two out of three from the Halos, they fired back with a resounding sweep of the defending AL Champs to keep pace with the hottest teams in baseball. With the All-Star Break around the corner, it’s becoming clear that this team isn’t going away.
On Deck: @ Angels, @ Mariners
2) Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (45-35, +$1,097) (4-3, +$66 LW) (LW: 1) The Angels would’ve liked a series win in Arlington, but will get a chance to exact some revenge on their AL West rivals this week at home. The winner of that three-game set should have the upper hand going into the All-Star Break in the “Wild West”.
On Deck: vs. Rangers, vs. Yankees
3) Boston Red Sox (49-32, +$870) (3-3, -$141 LW) (LW: 2) Sox bettors suffered a painful -215 loss at the hands of the Mariners on Saturday, but came back with an 8-4 ‘W’ on Sunday as nearly 3:1 favorites. With the upcoming schedule, Red Sox nation should still have the best record in the AL without any troubles going into the All-Star Break.
On Deck: vs. Athletics, vs. Royals
4) Seattle Mariners (42-39, +$600) (3-3, +$285 LW) (LW: 5) The M’s just aren’t going away either, apparently. Any time you can split six games in the Bronx and at Fenway, you’ve done something special, and the reward for Seattle bettors was a solid week. The L/6 before the break are all at home for the Mariners, so it may be time for this team to make a big move on the leaders in the West.
On Deck: vs. Orioles, vs. Rangers
5) Detroit Tigers (44-37, +$519) (2-4, -$170 LW) (LW: 3) Don’t look behind you, Tigers’ fans, because the rest of the AL Central is starting to catch up. Detroit dropped two out of three to Minnesota, and now only leads the division by two games over those Twinkies. The good news is that the worst two teams in the AL are on deck.
On Deck: vs. Royals, vs. Indians
6) Chicago White Sox (42-40, +$325) (5-2, +$424 LW) (LW: 8) Oh, and the White Sox are hot on Detroit’s tail as well, as they’re sitting just a half-game behind the Twins for second place in the AL Central. Chicago needed to beat up on the weak teams in the Central, and that’s exactly what they did, going 5-2 against the Indians and Royals this past week. With the Tribe coming to town again, there should be more room for improvement.
On Deck: vs. Indians, @ Twins
7) Minnesota Twins (43-40, -$42) (4-2, +$101 LW) (LW: 9) Taking two out of three against the Tigers was huge for the Twins over the weekend, but the L/6 before the All-Star Break are hellacious home games. If they can narrow the gap on Detroit at all this week, look out for Minnesota in the second half of the season.
On Deck: vs. Yankees, vs. White Sox
8) Tampa Bay Rays (44-39, -$77) (2-4, -$279 LW) (LW: 7) All of a sudden, the Rays went from a team that was cruising towards the All-Star Break to one that is limping towards it. For only the second time this year, Tampa Bay was swept in a series, and now its seven-game winning streak has suddenly transformed into a four-game skid. Coming back to the Trop before the break may just be what the doctor ordered.
On Deck: vs. Blue Jays, vs. Athletics
And the rest…
9) Toronto Blue Jays (42-41, -$210) (1-5, -$439 LW) (LW: 6)
10) New York Yankees (48-33, -$256) (5-1, +$185 LW) (LW: 10)
11) Baltimore Orioles (36-46, -$717) (2-5, -$343 LW) (LW: 11)
12) Oakland Athletics (34-46, -$974) (3-3, +$88 LW) (LW: 13)
13) Kansas City Royals (35-46, -$1,156) (3-4, -$129 LW) (LW: 12)
14) Cleveland Indians (33-50, -$2,150) (2-4, -$306 LW) (LW: 14)
