Bad Pitching or Good Hitting - MLB's Hottest OVER Teams

Bookmark and Share by Mike Rose

Run production may have slowed down in recent weeks, but there are still some red hot ‘over’ teams in the bigs! Which teams are knocking the ball out of the yard and struggling with their arms? Here’s BetUS Sportsbook’s list of the top MLB betting ‘over’ teams for the L/5 days!

(Rank) (Team) (O/U Record) (O/U Record in L/5)

1: Toronto Blue Jays (43-41-2) (4-1 in L/5) The Jays’ pitching staff would probably rather not see their names on this list. Save a 3-1 pitchers’ duel two days ago, Toronto’s pitching, particularly that of its starters, has been horrendous of late. In this stretch, Brian Tallet was lit up for 11 hits and eight runs in just 3.0 innings, Brett Cecil conceded nine hits and seven runs in 3.2 innings, and the always-dependable Roy Halladay was bombed for nine hits (three of which were homers) and five runs. It sure looks like it’s all over but the crying for the Jays, who are now nine games back of the Red Sox and are slumping towards the All-Star Break. Imagine how much worse things will get north of the border if rumors about the team trading Halladay are true?

2: New York Yankees (41-39-4) (4-1 in L/5) Yesterday stopped a four-game winning streak for ‘over’ bettors in Yanks’ games. Even with 1B Mark Teixeira having not blasted a homer in almost a month, the Bronx Bombers is living up to their name, as they have scored at least four runs in a very impressive 14 straight games. As a result, the team is up to 5.61 runs per game for the season, the best mark in the bigs. New York ranks in the Top-10 in every major offensive category, and will likely be there for the remainder of the season. The Red Sox shouldn’t look now, because the men in pinstripes are just a game behind them heading into this weekend’s final series before the All-Star Break. A pitching staff that conceded 30 runs over its previous five games has only allowed five in its last two; a tremendous sign if you’re a Yankee fan going forward.

3: Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (44-35-4) (4-1 in L/5) Are the Angels on this list every week now? Before last night’s 8-1 defeat to the Rangers, the Halos had scored at least four runs in 13 out of 14 games, a mark almost as impressive as that of the Yankees. In their L/13 before last night, they had averaged a whopping 7.46 runs per game. No wonder ‘over’ bettors went 9-3-1 in those 13 games. The pitching staff had been living dangerously in that stretch of games as well, as it gave up at least four runs in eight games and has now given up at least four runs in six straight. The Angels have only lost five games in their L/15, but four of those five were at the hands of the Rangers. That’s why they’re a game in back of Texas in the AL West standings just beyond the half-way point of the season.

And the rest…

4: Los Angeles Dodgers (38-39-7) (4-1 in L/5)

5: San Diego Padres (41-39-3) (3-2 in L/5)
