Yankees getting their money’s worth
Quietly (if that’s possible), Alex Rodriguez of the New York Yankees is having an absolutely monster season. The 29-year old New York native is leading the world in home runs with 16, has 46 RBIs and is hitting .318. Amazingly, his numbers haven’t garnered all that much attention in light of the team’s up and down year.
Early on, the media picked on New York’s terrible start. Then it was their torrid winning pace and the incredible power streak of Tino Martinez. But now that things have settled down, people are starting to take note of A-Rod’s stats with awe. Coming off a sub-par year (Can you believe over 100 RBIs and 35 HRs is an off year?), the attention on Rodriguez sort of wavered. But there’s no hiding it now. The man is on fire. A-Rod needs only three more dingers to join the 400 club and that should put him right back in the spotlight for the rest of the season.
Yes, he makes a lot of money. But how much is one man expected to do on the field? Alex Rodriguez is one of the top 25 baseball players ever to play the game and fans still want more from him. Is it his fault Tom Hicks of the Rangers backed up a couple truckloads of money to his front door to play baseball? Would you have turned down the ridiculous amount of cash? Let it go already America. The guy makes a lot of money, too much if we ask you, but he’s also putting on quite a show amidst a ton of pressure.
