MLB World Series Wagering – Game 3 Tampa Bay at Philadelphia

While my predicted score (6-4) was lightly off the mark, the Tampa Bay Rays (105-70 SU, 80-92-2 O/U, 94-80 RL) did manage to beat the Philadelphia Phillies (100-73 SU, 76-91-6 O/U, 81-92 RL) by two runs just as I predicted in the BetUS Locker Room on Thursday.
Now, 2-0 with my World Series selections, I am back to give my beloved BetUS MLB Sportsbook bettors what should amount to another winning wager on this Game 3 matchup.
The feisty Rays will give the ball to right-hander Matt Garza, (13-10, 3.67 ERA), as they seek to take a 2-1 lead against the Phillies, who will counter with 45-year-old left-hander Jamie Moyer, (16-9, 3.97 ERA).
Garza, the Rays’ staff ace and one of five outstanding starters the Rays have on their roster, is coming off of two phenomenal postseason starts in which he allowed just one earned run each time, covering 13 combined innings while striking out 14 batters and walking three batters each time out.
While Garza did give up five earned runs in one start against the Boston red Sox in their ALCS matchup, three starts ago, he has been absolutely, ‘lights out’ in his past two and will likely give the Phillies struggling batters fits with his command of at least three pitches he can throw for strikes at any time.
Philadelphia will be out of this game before they know it if Moyer can’t get his act together after getting rocked in his last postseason start against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Moyer allowed six earned runs on six hits – including one home run - in just over one inning on Sunday.
Here is a look at the key trends in this contest, followed by my in-depth analysis and MLB Free Picks.
The Rays are 1-4 in Garza’s last 5 road starts.
The Rays are 1-7 in Garza’s last 8 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
The Phillies are 4-0 in Moyer’s last 4 starts following an outing of less than 4 innings in his last appearance.
The Phillies are 4-1 in Moyer’s last 5 home starts.
The Over is 4-1 in Garza’s last 5 Saturday starts.
The Under is 8-1 in Moyer’s last 9 starts during game 3 of a series.
Analysis: As much as I’d like to say the Philadelphia Phillies are going to win this contest, (and I think they do have a shot, being at home), I just can’t see Moyer out-pitching Garza in this contest. Unless the Phillies go bonkers with their bats – and I don’t see that happening – the Rays are the correct pick for this contest BetUS MLB Sportsbook faithful!
