MLB Power Rankings - AL West is Running Show

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to dominate the BetUS online sportsbook power rankings by winning games. The great news for Dodger fans is that Manny Ramirez is back.

Those fifty games sure went by like a flash, didn’t they? Besides the Dodgers, the teams that made the biggest move in the power rankings has to be the Texas Rangers who climbed their way all the way back up to 2nd after dropping to 4th last week.

Let’s take a look at the rankings.

MLB Wagering: Power Rankings

1. Los Angeles Dodgers 52-30 ATS +1776 units 38-44 RL -381 units - - The Dodgers are incredibly profitable ATS but they’ve been anything but on the run line. They continue to lose on the run line dropping to -381 units. With Manny back into the fold, the team should win more games. The New York Mets, who are in dire straits right now, are next for the best team in MLB.

2. Texas Rangers 45-35 ATS +1115 units 42-38 RL +465 units - - Texas must have read the newspapers about how they were through and no chance of beating the Angels, now that the Angels are back on track in the A.L. West Division. The Rangers have won five in a row including sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays and beating the Angels in 2 out of 3. A series against the Angels looms again.

3. Los Angeles Angels 45-35 ATS +1097 units 44-36 RL +491 units - - What’s this? Two teams in the top five in what was supposed to be the weakest division in baseball? The good news for L.A. is that they get a chance to play the Rangers, who they are tied with for the top spot in the A.L. West Division, in their next series. The bad news is that the last time they played the Rangers, they lost 2 out of 3.

4. Boston Red Sox 49-32 +870 ATS 44-37 RL +1235 units - - Not sweeping Baltimore and going 1 and 2 against Seattle in their last series caused the Red Sox to drop a couple of spots in the power rankings. They get Oakland and Kansas City next. Both teams are beatable for the BoSox, who have solidified themselves as the best team in the A.L. East Division.

5. San Francisco Giants 44-37 ATS +786 units 49-31 RL +2216 units - - Why are the Giants suddenly winning games? They are ranked first in the MLB in ERA with a 3.53. This team isn’t just Tim Lincecum, who’s amazing. After all, even though Lincecum is well on his way to a second straight Cy Young Award, Matt Cain leads the Giants in victories with 9. Florida and San Diego are next. How many more wins can the suddenly impressive Giants get in those two three game series? At least four.

6. Seattle Mariners 42-39 ATS +600 units 40-41 -512 units - - Whoa. Where did these guys come from? The Mariners become the third team in the A.L. West to make it into the BetUS MLB Power Rankings this week. Going 2 and 1 against the L.A. Angels, stealing a game against the New York Yankees, and going 2 and 1 against the Boston Red Sox will do that. That’s 5 and 4 against three of the best teams in MLB right now.

7. Detroit Tigers 44-37 ATS +519 units 38-43 RL -438 units - - The Tigers are only 4 and 6 in their last 10 games but they maintain a spot in the power rankings because the rest of the A.L. Central Division isn’t stepping it up. Detroit could muster only a single victory in two three game series against both Oakland and Minnesota last week. They face the Kansas City Royals and Cleveland Indians this week.

8. Colorado Rockies 42-39 ATS +464 units 45-36 RL +681 units - - The Rockies drop a couple of spots in the power rankings but they are still in the top ten after that torrid two weeks where they couldn’t lose a game. If they had played the 1927 Yankees, they probably would have won. Not so last week when they went 1 and 2 against both the L.A. Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks. A series against the Washington Nationals this week could right the ship or sink it further.

9. Florida Marlins 43-40 ATS +435 units 45-38 RL +524 units - - The Marlins return to the power rankings with a much different record than the 11 and 1 they sported in week 2 of the 2009 season. It helps when you can play the Washington Nationals, whom they swept last week, and the Pittsburgh Pirates, whom they beat 2 to 1 last week, back to back. A series against the hot San Francisco Giants will be a more telling one this week.

10. Chicago White Sox 42-40 ATS +325 units 45-37 RL +1182 units - - The ChiSox have gone 7 and 3 in their last 10 games, but have lost their last two games to the Kansas City Royals. They now face two A.L. Central Division rivals back to back in the Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins. Both teams are solid and could pose a threat to Chicago White Sox. Their hold on a top ten spot in the sportsbook is tenuous.
