The Arizona Diamondbacks, (42-43 SU, 38-46 RL, 39-39-6 O/U) have dropped two straight games to the Milwaukee Brewers, (46-38 SU, 40-44 RL, 33-48-3 O/U) and have been struggling in a big way recently, losing seven of their last ten games overall in the BetUS Sportsbook after getting off to a spectacular start to the 2008 regular season.
While the Diamondbacks will try to get back in the win column for the BetUS MLB online sports wagering community by handing the ball to 2006 NL Cy Young award winner Brandon Webb, (12-4, 3.21 ERA), the Brewers don’t figure to go down easily as they will send out their own spectacular hurler in southpaw Manny Parra, (8-2, 3.95) a winner in each of his last six starts.
Parra has been downright filthy for sports betting faithful lately, posting an outstanding 2.41 ERA during the span while also going unbeaten in his last ten starts.
After getting off to a perfect 9-0 start this season, Webb has gone 3-4 with a 4.07 ERA in eight outings since but looked like he was back to normal in his last start as he limited the Florida Marlins to two runs in six innings of Saturday’s 6-2 road win.
Parra however, was even more impressive on the mound the same day for the Brewers, limiting the Minnesota Twins to just two hits and no runs while striking out six batters in seven innings. Parra has allowed just three runs in his last 19 innings on the mound.
"You're seeing a young major league pitcher evolve into a pretty good major league pitcher," Brewers manager Ned Yost said. "He's been at the top of our prospect list for a long time and now he's gotten to the big leagues and is starting to feel comfortable and have some success."
Parra has already dominated the D-Backs once this season, limiting them to one run on four hits in seven innings on June 4, while equaling his career high with eight strikeouts in a 10-1 win.
The Diamondbacks fell below .500 for the first time since they were 1-2 on April 3 and are now just 1 1/2 games ahead of the second place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West.
"We're going through a tough period where we're coughing up some games where we don't normally give them up," said Diamondbacks manager Bob Melvin, whose club stranded 12 base runners.
The Diamondbacks got a huge dose of bad news recently as left fielder Eric Byrnes was placed on the disabled list Tuesday and may need surgery on his torn left hamstring.
Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.
The Brewers are 4-0 in Parra’s last 4 starts with the total set at 7.0-8.5.
The Brewers are 6-0 in Parra’s last 6 starts.
The Diamondbacks are 4-0 in Webb’s last 4 starts as a home favorite of -151 to -200.
The Diamondbacks are 6-1 in Webb’s last 7 starts as a home favorite.
The Over is 4-0-1 in Parra’s last 5 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
The Under is 4-0 in Webb’s last 4 starts vs. National League Central.
Analysis: While I genuinely believe the Diamondbacks will get out of their funk at some point while getting back to being the impressive young team that got off to such a hot start to the 2008 regular season, I like the streaking Milwaukee Brewers and their red-hot bats to win this matchup while getting another ‘nasty’ start from Manny Parra.
