The Los Angeles Dodgers, (31-35, 27-39 RL) have dropped two straight sports betting contests for baseball wagering fans and three of four overall in the BetUS Sportsbook, including Thursday’s crushing, 9-0 shellacking at the hands of the San Diego Padres that I correctly predicted on Thursday in the BetUS Locker Room.
Losers of eight of their last 12 games, the Dodgers will take their mystifying act on the road tonight for their interleague matchup with the equally perplexing Detroit Tigers, (29-37, 34-32 RL) though they are starting to look much better than they have all season.
"I've been on teams that were far worse than we're at now," Los Angeles second baseman Jeff Kent told the team's official Web site. "The frustration lies within ourselves, only because we have the capacity to play great baseball."
Los Angeles will try to get back in the win column against the Tigers by sending veteran right-hander Derek Lowe (4-5, 4.15 ERA) to the mound looking to continue to throw the ball effectively as he has in each of his last three outings.
Lowe has recorded a solid 2-1 record with a 1.86 ERA in his last four starts and allowed three runs on six hits in seven innings to help the Dodgers take down the Chicago Cubs, Cubs 7-3 on Saturday.
Lowe is also a surprising 7-1 with a 1.82 ERA in nine starts and 19 relief appearances against the Tigers, though he hasn’t faced them since 2005.
The Tigers, who have won three straight games for the online sports betting community that likes to wager on MLB baseball - and five of their last six games overall - will counter with right-hander Armando Galarraga (5-2, 3.70), who limited the Cleveland Indians to two runs on four hits in 5 2/3 innings to help the Tigers beat the Cleveland Indians 5-2 on Sunday.
"These are still baby steps, but we've taken straight three baby steps," Detroit manager Jim Leyland said. "We have to start playing well enough to get people talking about us again."
Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.
The Dodgers are 16-35 in their last 51 interleague road games.
The Dodgers are 11-24 in their last 35 interleague games vs. a right-handed starter.
The Tigers are 4-1 in their last 5 games on grass.
The Tigers are 4-1 in their last 5 overall.
The Under is 5-0 in Lowe’s last 5 Friday starts.
The Under is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 interleague games vs. a right-handed starter.
The Dodgers are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
Analysis: While the Dodgers’ Derek Lowe has been throwing the ball very well lately after a shaky start, I think the Detroit Tigers are going to win this contest by getting some timely hitting and an absolutely fine performance from their own starter, Armando Galarraga. Take the Tigers to win this contest.
