The Los Angeles Dodgers, (32-38, 29-41 RL) snapped their five-games losing streak in the BetUS Sportsbook on Tuesday night, beating the Cincinnati Reds, (33-39, 28-43 RL) 3-1 as young hurler Chad Billingsley limited the Reds to one run one five hits while striking out nine batters in 6 1/3 innings.
The Reds, losers of three straight games, and seven of its last ten overall, will look to pick up a much-needed win for themselves and the BetUS online MLB sports wagering community tonight by handing the ball to veteran right-hander Bronson Arroyo (4-5, 5.31).
Arroyo is coming off a strong outing in his last start, though it was cut short because of heat-related cramping as Arroyo limited the St. Louis Cardinals to just two hits in six innings of Thursday’s 6-2 Dodgers’ defeat, before exiting with cramping in his right forearm. Arroyo also singled and homered in two at-bats.
"I haven't had that before," Arroyo said of the cramps. "I was depleted. I was sweating more than I had all year. I felt like I'd given Dusty (Baker) all I had to give. I felt like I wasn't going to be able to give him any more quality innings."
Despite losing two of their starting pitchers on Tuesday because on unrelated injuries, the Dodgers will turn to veteran right-hander Derek Lowe, (4-6, 4.03 ERA) to help them record consecutive wins for the first time since June 6-7.
Lowe had his regularly scheduled start moved up a day as Los Angeles put starters Brad Penny on the 15-day disabled list and saw Hiroki Kuroda back to L.A. for examinations after he told the team he was experiencing pain in his right shoulder.
Lowe limited the Detroit Tigers to two earned runs in seven innings on Friday, but got no run support in the Tigers’ 5-0 win.
Lowe is 2-1 with a 3.24 ERA in three career games, including two starts, against the Reds while Arroyo is 1-2 with a 3.75 ERA in seven games, including six starts against the Dodgers.
Here is a look at tonight’s key online sports wagering trends followed by my analysis and MLB online betting Free Picks.
The Dodgers are 4-1 in Lowe’s last five starts during game two of a series.
The Dodgers are 23-9 in Lowe’s last 32 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance.
The Reds are 8-1 in Arroyo’s last nine starts as a home favorite.
The Reds are 7-1 in Arroyo’s last eight starts as a favorite of -110 to -150.
The Under is 5-1 in Lowe’s last six starts as a road underdog of +110 to +150.
The Over is 4-0 in Arroyo’s last four Wednesday starts.
Analysis: Both starting pitchers here are throwing the ball pretty well coming into tonight’s matchup, but it is the Dodgers who have the better overall team and better batting order. Despite being on the road tonight, I advise BetUS online MLB bettors to take the Dodgers to win this game and cover the run line in the process.
