The New York Yankees take on the Houston Astros on Sunday afternoon in an interleague game which features two of the top pitchers in baseball. Chien Ming-Wang, who takes the mound for the Yankees has been very good this season. Even though his ERA is less than great, from a baseball betting point-of-view, at 4.30, his record of 7 and 2 makes him a pretty good online wager when he takes the mound. A lot of that has to do with the fact that his teammates always seems to give him the run support he needs.

The Houston Astros counter with pitcher Roy Oswalt. Oswalt is having a down year, but when he’s good, he’s practically unhittable. Oswalt’s record this year is 5 and 6. His ERA is 5.06. Those numbers aren’t staggering, but this is Roy Oswalt. The man can turn things around at a moment’s notice.

This game is going to come down to two factors. The first is whether or not Roy Oswalt shows up. If Oswalt shows up, and he could in this game, then the Yankees have very little chance of winning straight-up.

The Astros should be able to hit Ming-Wang. Whether or not the Yankees can hit Oswalt is another story.

Oswalt is having a down year, but he’s still got enough good stuff to put in a solid six or seven inning game on any given day.

I’ll be looking to make a wager on Oswalt and the run-line, hopefully he will be favored, at above even money. I just have to believe that Roy Oswalt and the Houston Astros have enough to beat the Yankees in this game.
