Manny Ramirez Busted for Steroids - Given 50-Game Suspension

All was going well in Dodger land, where they sat atop the MLB wagering money earned list (+$1,230 based on $100 bets), earned a 126 year franchise best 13-0 home mark, breaking a modern MLB record for a home winning streak to start a campaign and have the best record in baseball at 21-8. But this rendition of Manny being Manny, has Dodger blue wearing fans seeing red, as the issue of steroids has yet again raised its ugly head.

If the on going saga of steroids and A-Rod weren't enough, Ramirez is the newest superstar ensnared in the sport's drug scandals that continue to put a black-eye on MLB. On Thursday, MLB confirmed Ramirez was being suspended for 50 games that will ultimately cost the Los Angeles' slugger well over $7 million of his $25 million salary, and could cost sports betting fans that support the Dodgers, too. His suspension was first reported by the Los Angeles Times on its Web site.

The 36-year-old outfielder claimed he did not take steroids and was given medication by a doctor that contained a banned substance during the treatment for a personal health issue. Ramirez is batting .348 with six home runs and 20 RBIs through the first 27 games of the season but won't be back on the field until July 3 game at San Diego.

Ramirez joined the Dodgers late in 2008 and made an immediate impact that helped Los Angeles win the NL West. Manny being Manny swept across southern California, and the team named a section of seats in left field at Dodger Stadium “Mannywood” in his honor. But despite his incredible talent at the plate, there's something wrong with his stick, that may call for a ''Mannywood'' change of names to ''Mannywould'' - if he could.

A source, who spoke about Ramirez's anonymity condition that he was being treated for, said the substance used was to boost his sex drive (obviously not a drive into any gaps). It wasn't Viagra, but a substance similar that's used for the same treatment of providing a temporary ''fix'' in sexual performance.

Losing Ramirez will be a huge blow financially for the Dodgers, and its online MLB betting fans. He has increased attendance, merchandise sales and interest in the team. But that's the love of Manny being Manny. Los Angeles plays Washington again Thursday night, following Wednesday's 10-3 romp over the Nats in the front end of a rare two-game series, and BetUS MLB odds list the Dodgers at -150 with a game total of 9 under -120. If you bet on MLB, good luck!
