Dodgers and Diamondbacks Fight for Supremacy
by BetUS Staff

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Arizona Diamondbacks are still fighting it out for supremacy in the N.L. West Division. The Dodgers made two moves recently that they thought would catapult them to the top of the standings.
For a while, the acquisition of Manny Ramirez proved to be exactly what baseball betting fans needed with the Dodgers winning six out of eight. But any dreams MLB betting fans had of riding this team into the playoffs were squashed almost immediately after the streak when L.A. went on to lose its next 9 out of 10 games. In fact the Dodgers have lost 7 in a row including being swept by the lowly Washington Nationals. They send pitcher Hiroki Kuroda to the mound. Kuroda has been decent this year going 7 and 9 with a 3.87 ERA.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost four straight games but because the Dodgers have been absolutely horrible, the D’Backs are leading the N.L. West by 3 ½ games. That’s crazy. They made a move by trading for former Reds’ slugger Adam Dunn. None of the acquisitions by either the Dodgers or D’Backs have changed things all that much. Both teams are terrible. The D’Backs start Doug Davis on Friday night. Davis has an ERA of 4.63 and a record of 5 and 8.
Here are the BetUS online sportsbook betting odds for this game:
Los Angeles Dodgers
Hiroki Kuroda – R - 1 ½ + 130 - 120 O 8 ½ - 125
Arizona Diamondbacks
Doug Davis – L + 1 ½ - 150 Ev U 8 ½ + 105
Here are a few online wagering trends that might help us find a good online bet in this game:
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 3 and 13 in their last 16 games on the road.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are 1 and 4 in their last 5 games versus a team from the National League West Division.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 2 and 8 in Doug Davis’s last 10 starts.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are 1 and 5 in Doug Davis’s last 6 starts at home.
Two okay pitchers who never get the run support they need means that finding the best online bet in this game is going to be difficult. I like the Dodgers some because Kuroda can be one heck of a pitcher at times.
Twice this season he has flirted with a no-hitter only to see both the no-hitter go down and the Dodgers’ bull-pen give it up towards the end of the game. I wonder how many more times Kuroda can give it his all only to see his teammates give up the game.
Doug Davis came back after surgery for cancer. That’s terrific but the shine on his comeback, from an online gambling point-of-view, has worn off. Davis needs help from his teammates, of course, but we can’t very well put money on Davis and the run line when we’d have to put up an extra fifty bucks.
That leaves us to finding the team that will win this game. I’m going to have to side with the D’Backs. The only reason, and it’s a very simple one, is the fact that they are a home underdog in this game. The Dodgers were recently swept by the Nationals and have every right to come up big in this game, but I can’t put up extra bucks to watch them lose again.
I’ll be making an online wager on the Arizona Diamondbacks to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers straight-up in this game at the BetUS online betting odds of even money.
