Mark Franco from Franco Sports was kind enough to provide some serious Sweet 16 analysis for the BetUS faithful with our man Damon D.

Mark makes the point that bettors “can’t go strictly with favorites or underdogs”. In round one of the tournament the underdogs went 17-14-1 against the spread. In round two the favorites went 11-5. Overall, favorites have a slight edge at 25-22-1 ATS.

Mark also brought up a great point about how some shooters might not be as good in “large stadiums”, for instance in the Connecticut vs. Purdue game in Glendale, AZ, because of the way the basket appears in large stadiums. The depth perception might be off for some shooters. One of the things Marks points out is how unders might be worth betting on in games played in large stadiums.

Here are some of the nuggets regarding the Thursday games from the podcast:

Mark feels that the Missouri vs. Memphis game might be “an up and down scoring game”.

Xavier could have a shot to upset Pitt and therefore deserve a wager as a “+7 underdog” in the sportsbook.

Purdue shouldn’t be discounted as having “no chance versus Connecticut”. Purdue proved how good they were by “controlling the Washington game from beginning to end.”

If it comes down to a second half call, then “Duke will get it” but Villanova might be the “best team in the Big East”.
