Weekend Stakes - Grade II Mrs. Revere Stakes and On Trust Handicap

It’s the first Saturday of Hollywood Park’s fall meet. That means that terrific wagering is on tap at Hollywood Park.

Hollywood Park’s featured race on Saturday is the On Trust Handicap. Before that race goes off, the Grade II Mrs. Revere Stakes goes off at Churchill Downs.

Let’s take a look at both races.

Churchill Downs – Race 9

For Fillies, Three Year Olds

1 1/16th miles on turf

There is a lot of speed in this race, but that doesn’t mean that presser Mary’s Follies has no shot. Trainer Richard Dutrow puts her back on turf and puts Kent Desormeaux atop her. It certainly looks like a money run to me. She will no doubt get lost in the betting. Miss Keller improved big time second time in the states for trainer Roger Attfield. The daughter of Montjeu should be better facing firm turf on Saturday, hopefully, and will be very tough with a clean trip breaking from the 10 hole. Expect a great run out of Miss Keller. Hot Cha Cha, the morning line chalk, has been superb in her last two races. She figures to bounce in this spot but she’s so incredibly talented that it’s tough to leave her out of the top three.

Hollywood Park – Race 8

$75,000 On Trust Handicap

For Three Year Olds and Upward Bred in California or By California Sires

7 ½ furlongs on cushion track

It’s tough to look past the super fast Dance With Gable who is 3-3-1 on all weather surfaces and has won 8 out of 19 races overall. Dance With Gable gets the outside post where jockey Rafael Bejarano can keep track of the other speed and the cushion track can play fast at times. He gets the lead at the top of the stretch and draws off. Star Nicholas is 3-2-1 out of 8 races on the cushion track, always seems to fire, and is just a very consistent animal. Nikki’sgoldenstead won’t have to deal with either Zensational or Gayego, the two horses to thump him in his last two races, in this. That in itself means that he does well in this.
