Padding Your Bankroll: Thursday November 26

Turkey Day is here, and we have a lot to be thankful for, particularly the early post times, giving us plenty of time for wagering before we have to sit down for dinner.

Aqueduct has an 11:25 ET post time this morning, and the nine race card concludes at 3:10 ET

The highlight of today’s card is the $100,000 Fall Highweight Handicap (G3), which is the middle leg of our Late Pick 3 play.

It is the one time a year horses carry more weight than normal. The starting high weight is Go Go Shoot, who will be toting a hefty 134 pounds today, ten more than he carried last out when fourth in the Vosburgh (G1).

The gelding has a ton of early zip, and he could prove tough to catch. While we will use him in our Pick 3 play, I am hoping we can get Sean Avery to jump up and pull off the minor upset.

Today’s Pick 3 Play from Aqueduct:

Starting in Race 7: $1: 1,3,4,6 / 1,3 / 2,5,8 = $24

AQU Race 7 OClm $30,000N2X (2:14 ET)
#4 Too Amenable, #3 Cash'n in Dixie, #6 Beneath the Crown, #1 Karakorum Legend

#4 Too Amenable did not fire last out in his first try at today's condition, regressing off a hard fought nose win two back against state bred Alw-1 foes. The colt handled yielding footing in his second career start, missing by a nose in a game effort and figures to bounce back with a better effort here for the Clement barn. This colt is out of the stakes winner Lady She Is Too ($92K) who has dropped six other winners including John Paul Too ($326K) and Too Scarlet ($268K). I'll take a good look at this guy if we see most of his 10/1 ML.

#3 Cash'n in Dixie was a good looking winner last out against Alw-1 state breds and won with something left in the tank. He caught ground with some give to it, which seems likely again today. The colt is out of the stakes winner Prairie Princess ($160K). The colt still appears to have a ton of upside and is in good hands with former Pletcher assistant Benzel.

AQU Race 8 Fall Highweight Hcp G3 (2:42 ET)
#3 Sean Avery, #1 The Roundhouse, #1a Go Go Shoot

#3 Sean Avery gets the call and I like the equine version much better than I like the hockey player. The gelding takes on stakes company for the first time here after a sharp Alw-1 score last out off a two month break. The gelding should get a good tracking trip sitting off what likely is going to be a sharp early pace. He is getting ten pounds from the likely favorite and still appears to have some upside potential.

#1a Go Go Shoot has run huge twice since Levine took over the training duties, popping a couple of 109 Beyers winning the Longfellow and running second in the Vanderbilt (G2). The gelding set the early fractions and had nothing left late last out in the Vosburgh (G1). He faces an easier group here  and looks tough if he can shake loose. His entrymate #1 The Roundhouse will be one of the late closers. We have lost a few bucks on this guy since he ran a good third in the Churchill Downs 'Cap (G2) back in May, winning just 1 of 6 since that outing.

AQU Race 9 Clm $25,000B (3:10 ET)
#5 Catty Madeline, #2 Sweet Madness, #8 Mindbender

#5 Catty Madeline gets the call in a tricky race in which most of these are stretching out from sprints. The filly is returning off a two month break, last out a decent third, beaten two lengths for the top spot. The runner up in the race was Karakorum Elektra, who came back to win the Memories of Silver on Oct. 8. Two and three back this gal ran second and third behind a pair of repeat winners. Levine is strong off the bench, hitting at a 31% clip (with a +ROI) with horses coming back off a 61-180 day layoff.

#2 Sweet Madness made a good late rally up the inside to land in the runner up spot last out in a good effort. She has 16 career starts, all sprints and will go two turns for the first time here. She looks like she has enough pedigree to handle the extra ground and she has finished up well in her recent starts, suggesting she can handle the stretch out.

Price Plays From Aqueduct:
These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.
