Horse Pick of the Day - Gulfstream Park Race 8

This Saturday is a big day for BetUS online racebook fans at Gulfstream Park. The Fountain of Youth Stakes will be run as the 9th race on the card.

For information regarding that race, check out the Weekend Stakes race article. The pick of the day on Saturday actually comes out of the Grade III Canadian Turf Stakes which is the race right before the Fountain of Youth.

Vanquisher - - 5/1 morning line odds

Vanquisher has won three races in a row for trainer Gregory Griffith. Although the 5 year old gelding is stepping up in class, nobody in this field is nearly as sharp as he is. Not only that, but his running line, 6 wins out of 15 races on the turf, and 2 wins out of 3 races on the turf at Gulfstream Park, suggests that he should have no problem with the step up. He’s the one to beat.

Delightful Kiss - - 4/1 morning line odds

Delightful Kiss is one classy horse but his turf form leaves something to be desired. There’s no doubt that if he’s on his A game he probably wins this going away, just look at the company he’s been keeping, but that terrific form on dirt might not translate to the turf. The 5 year old gelding just had a terrific work on February 25th.

Just As Well - - 3/1 morning line odds

The 6 year old horse sired by A.P. Indy finished second in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap in his last race. He’s a definite player in this and could easily best this field, but his odds are probably going to be too low to warrant a win and place bet.

Wagering Strategy

Vanquisher is a stand-out in my eyes and deserves a bet to win and place. I will also use Vanquisher, Just As Well and Delightful Kiss in an exacta and trifecta box.
