Horse Pick of the Day - Delaware Park Race 8

Race-day: 6/16/2009
Race-time: 4:24 pm est.
Delaware Park should enjoy nicer weather on Tuesday which is one the reasons the 8th at Delaware is where our horse pick of the day will be.
Racing at Delaware Park can be just as good as the New York tracks depending on which day of the week it is. While Belmont is dark on Tuesdays, Delaware usually showcases a full card for BetUS online racebook fans.
Let’s take a look at Race 8 at Delaware Park on Tuesday.
Delaware Park – Race 8
Claiming $75,000
For Three Year Olds
1 mile on turf
Out At Night - - 12/1 morning line
This son of Aptitude is taking a big class hike, but he’s won his last two races and he isn’t facing any world beaters in here. He’s also undefeated at the distance and 2 for 2 on turf. Trainer Randy Morse thinks enough of him to step him up in class. At the odds, he’s a definite play.
Code of Honour - - 7/2 morning line
Code of Honour should set the pace and he could keep going on the front end because there just isn’t a whole lot of other speed in this race. He threw in a clunker two races ago, but bounced back with another terrific 3rd place finish. This race sets up as slightly easier for him which means a victory could happen. A gate to wire win isn’t out of the question.
Spicy Dubai - - 5/2 morning line
He looks like a stand out on paper because he’s trained by Michael Matz but what’s up with that 7th place finish in the optional claimer in his last? Yes, he garnered a terrific speed rating, but he should have squashed that field. This field might be tougher than that and, because he’s a closer, he could find the pace difficult to deal with.
I like Out At Night enough to bet him to win, place and show. I will put Out At Nigh, Spicy Dubai and Code of Honour in an exacta box. I will bypass the trifecta in this race.
