Zurich Classic of New Orleans - Tournament Match-ups

Betting on tournament match-ups in golf is almost always a good way for BetUS online sportsbook fans to make profits.
When betting on tournament match-ups, gamblers just have to pick the winner of a straight-up match-up between two golfers. The golf odds are obviously much lower than trying to pick the straight-up winner in the tournament, but the chances of winning are much better.
Let’s analyze the best Tournament Match-ups in the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
Golf: Zurich Classic of New Orleans Tournament Match-ups
- Kenny Perry -125 vs. Nick Watney -105 - - Watney has a shot, of course, but Perry should be ready to putt his way to a big victory in the Zurich Classic (link to Zurich Classic To Win article) after blowing it in the Masters’ two weeks ago. Perry is a top golfer, his 69.3 average per round, which is ranked 2nd on the Tour, says as much. Not only that, but Perry has 6 top ten finishes out of 10 tournaments and is ranked third on the money list.
Pick: Kenny Perry at -125
- Ian Poulter -105 vs. Mike Weir -125 - - Both guys will need to step it up to win the Zurich and both guys have a good shot to finish in the Top Ten. The difference is only a matter of odds and the fact that Weir has never had a very good Zurich Classic. Poulter’s only starting in his fifth tournament of the year, but he already has a top ten finish to his credit. I’m going with Poulter because of the odds and the fact that Weir’s history says a good Zurich probably isn’t in the cards.
Pick: Ian Poulter at -105
- Rory Sabbatini -130 vs. Justin Rose Ev - - Sabbatini has 2 top ten finishes and has made the cut in 8 out of the 9 tournaments he’s played in. Rose doesn’t have a top ten finish this season yet, but he has made the cut in 5 out of the 6 tournaments he’s started in this year. Sabbatini should win in this match-up but Rose might be good enough to beat him straight-up. I have to side with the odds and Rose in this match-up because the facts regarding Sabbatini just aren’t good enough to account for the extra 30 bucks.
Pick: Justin Rose at Ev
- Ian Poulter -105 vs. Rory Sabbatini -125 - - Poulter has been picking his spots because he’s only started in 4 tournaments this year. Sabbatini has been pretty good this year, but when it comes down to it, Poulter should be the winner in this match-up. He has 1 top ten finish in those four tournaments and has made the cut in 3 out of the 4. The odds on Poulter are better. I’ll pick him in this match-up.
Pick: Ian Poulter at -105
- Andres Romero -105 vs. Justin Rose -125 - - Rose has been playing better than Romero, but Romero is the defending champion. Romero can really turn it on at times even though he hasn’t looked that great this season. But a top ten finish this season, as opposed to zero for Rose, means that Romero has a shot in this match-up.
Pick: Andres Romero at -105
- J.B. Holmes -105 vs. Boo Weekeley -125 - - Weekley finished 13th in the Verizon Heritage last week, he was the defending champion, and should be able to beat J.B. Holmes in this match-up because he’s made the cut in 8 out of 9 tournaments. Holmes has only made the cut in 6 out of 10 tournaments this season but he’s finished in the Top Ten twice and has made almost a million bucks on the tour. I’m siding with Holmes as the slight upset bet.
Pick: J.B. Holmes at -105
