The Valero Texas Open could be the type of PGA Event that will cause gamblers to scramble to find a winner.  It’s that wide open with some of the bigger named golfers sitting it out.

Of course, the BetUS online sportsbook offers all sorts of wagering opportunities for bettors interested in making profits on the Valero Texas Open.  One of the best, like it is most weeks, is finding the winner in straight-up tournament matchups.

Let’s take a look at the best tournament matchups in the Valero Texas Open.

  1. Zach Johnson -115 vs. Justin Leonard -115 - - Johnson is the defending champions but Leonard has made a career playing in the Valero.  Leonard has 3 victories and 2 seconds out of 11 starts.  He’s also finished in the Top 25 nine times.
    Pick:  Justin Leonard at -115

  1. Charlie Wi -115 vs. Charley Hoffman -115 - - Wi shot a 61 in the final round of the Valero last year.  That’s pretty amazing, but Hoffman has made the cut in 20 tournaments in a row including 11 straight in 2009.  He’s also ranked 8th in the number of birdies he puts up in each round.
    Pick:  Charley Hoffman at -115

  1. Tim Clark -135 vs. Anthony Kim +105 - - Kim shot a second round 82 at TPC Sawgrass last week while Clark finished with a 4 under at TPC.  Clark is playing well enough to deserve major points in this match-up but Kim can bounce back at Valero and the odds are just too good to pass up.  I have to go with Kim.
    Pick:  Anthony Kim at +105

  1. Brian Davis Ev vs. Daniel Chopra -130 - - Davis has played his last 12 rounds at par or below while Chopra was amazing in the second round at TPC last week but hasn’t had an overall good 2009.  In this matchup, the consistent golfer wins.  That’s Davis who might not get himself a victory in Texas but won’t hurt himself while Chopra could bounce and just have a bad Valero.
    Pick:  Brian Davis at Ev

  1. Zack Johnson -130 vs. Tim Clark Ev - - This is a matchup between the defending champion and the hot golfer.  Johnson is ranked 8th on the money list and has had a very nice 2009 but finished 32nd at TPC.  Clark finished 9th at TPC but would have done better if not for a horrid 74 3rd round.  Clark is the bet because the odds are better on him and because there just isn’t a whole lot separating these two.
    Pick:  Tim Clark at Ev

  1. Nick O’Hern -120 vs. Dustin Johnson -110 - - Since February, Johnson hasn’t finished in the Top 30 but in February he had 3 consecutive Top 20 finishes including a victory at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.  O’Hern is ranked in the Top 20 in only one category, sand saves, while Johnson is ranked 4th in birdies per round, 5th in driving distance, and 15th on the money list.  Johnson bounces back and wins this matchup.
    Pick:  Dustin Johnson at -110
