The U.S. Open is over and most BetUS online sportsbook fans have already turned their attention to the Travelers Championship, this week’s PGA Tour Event. Luca Glover did well enough to win the 2009 U.S. Open even though some BetUS online sportsbook fans feels that the conditions of Bethpage Black was not conducive to a U.S. Open victory for some of the top stars on the PGA Tour.

Now golf gamblers turn their attention to this week’s event, the Travelers Championship.

Let’s take a look at some of the contenders for this year’s Travelers Championship.

Golf: Travelers Championship To Win

1. Kenny Perry +2000 - - Even though he hasn’t finished better than 21st in his last 5 tournaments, Kenny Perry is still ranked in the top ten in total driving and greens hit in regulation. Gamblers keep waiting for one of he best golfers in the first half of 2009 to return to his usual form. This could be the tournament.

2. David Toms +2000 - - Toms ranks in the top 20 in greens in regulation, putting, total driving and driving accuracy. He missed the cut in the U.S. Open but before that he finished 2nd in the St Jude Classic. Toms has finished in the top ten in 10 out of the 15 tournaments this season.

3. Stewart Cink +2000 - - Cink won the Travelers Championship last year and, actually, he hasn’t been that bad this year. He’s done enough to be a very good player on the tour with top five finishes in the WGAC-Accenture Match and the Memorial Tournament. He could be player in this as he knows the course very well.

4. Hunter Mahan +1200 - - Gamblers have to love a golfer who has made the cut in 15 straight tournament in 2009 and has 9 top 25 finishes. His U.S. Open was very good, considering the competition. Mahan could be the golfer to bet this week.

5. Steve Marino +3500 - - The only thing golfers need to know is that Marino has the 3rd best number of rounds in the 60’s this year. He’s also finished in the top 25 in each of his last three starts. Marino’s 8th placed ranking in greens in regulation is also a huge plus. He could be dangerous in the Travelers.

6. Anthony Kim +2500 - - Kim surprised a lot of bettors by playing as well as he did in the U.S. Open. Kim finished in 16th place. He did well enough to get some gambler’s thinking about him in the Travelers. I’m one of them.

Best Long Shot

Dustin Johnson +4000 - - His 9 over, 40th place finish in the U.S. Open really wasn’t that bad. Dustin Johnson is a very capable golfer and considering the fact that he’s finished in the top 25 in three of his last four starts and he ranks in the top ten in driving distance, greens in regulation, and is 10th in par scoring average, he’s got big a shot in the Travelers.
