PGA Odds - Picking a Winner at the Valero Texas Open

The big names are taking this week off after trying to strut their stuff in the TPC Sawgrass last week. I say try because only Tiger Woods made a valiant effort in the TPC.
Phil Mickelson, Sergio Garcia and Padraig Harrington all failed miserably. That's okay. From a BetUS online sportsbook betting point-of-view, finding the winner in the Valero Texas Open this week might actually prove to be more profitable then discounting Mickelson, Garcia and Harrington and settling on Henrik Stenson which is what bettors would have had to do last week at TPC.
Let's analyze the chances of some of the golfers to win this week's Valero Texas Open.
Golf: Valero Texas Open To Win
- Charley Hoffman +2000 - - Putting is going to be the most important factor in the Valero this week and Hoffman is one of the highest ranked player in that category, at #8 in birdies per round, in this field. Hoffman has made the cut in all 11 tournaments he has entered this year and has two top 15 finishes at Valero. He could surprise.
- Zach Johnson +1100 - - At 11 to 1, the defending champion deserves to be mentioned as a potential winner of the Texas Open this year. Johnson is ranked 8 th on the money list and 6 th in the FedEx Cup point standings. He will be ready to make amends for a poor showing at TPC Sawgrass last week and could easily defend his Valero Texas Open title.
- Tim Clark +1400 - - Clark finished 9 th at TPC last week. It was his 3rd Top Ten of the year. He will be looking to use that terrific finish as a stepping stone to a victory in this and he could very well do it because he's ranked 5 th in birdies per round and 6 th in driving accuracy. He's due for a victory.
- Justin Leonard +1100 - - Leonard has dominated the Valero Texas Open course in his career. In 11 starts, Leonard has finished in the Top 25 nine times. Out of those 9 Top 25 finishes, Leonard has won three times and has finished second twice.
- Chad Campbell +2000 - - He missed the cut at TPC last week and wound up finishing in 62 nd place at Quail Hollow, but his second place finish at the Masters was pretty darn good and he could be rounding back into form. If that's the case, then he has a huge shot in the Valero Texas Open.
- John Mallinger +2500 - - Mallinger's 3 rd place finish at TPC last week was pretty impressive. He has some Valero experience having finished tied for 15 th in his only start in 2007 but if gamblers back Mallinger it will be because the odds are right and he did well enough in the TPC to garner some attention for this.
Best Long Shot
Brian Davis +4500 - - That 5 th place finish at the TPC was just fantastic. Davis has played his last 12 rounds on the PGA Tour at par or better including four straight at TPC Sawgrass. He's hot enough to win this.
Daniel Chopra +4000 - - He tied for third at Valero in 2007 and had a terrific second round at TPC last week before finishing 14 th . Chopra could easily find his game and be a factor at 40 to 1.
