Buick Invitational - Will Tiger Make it Back?

Bookmark and Share by D.S. Williamson

Last year’s Buick Invitational winner, Tiger Woods, still hasn’t announced his return. That’s not a bad thing for sports betting fans. Without Tiger things should open up for a long-shot or two in match-up betting.

The Buick Invitational is held at the Torrey Pines Golf Course near San Diego, California. Traditionally, Woods has always dominated at Torrey Pines. Golf betting fans are gong to have to find a suitable replacement to the unbeatable Tiger.

It makes sense to concentrate efforts on match-up betting where picking the winner requires picking one golfer to simply beat another.

Let’s get to it!

Best Golf Match-Up Bets in the Buick Invitational

1. Padraig Harrington -115 vs. Phil Mickelson -115 - - Usually I’d be all over Harrington but Mickelson might actually have the upper hand having done well at Torrey Pines before. Harrington, who won two majors last year, is the better over all golfer right now, but he usually saves his best stuff for the majors. Phil could win this. He should definitely beat Harrington in this match-up.

Pick: Phil Mickelson at -115

2. Camillo Villegas -130 vs. Rory Sabbatini Ev - - Villegas is an up and comer. Adding a Buick Invitational trophy to his growing resume would be huge. But the golf odds don’t justify it. Sabbatini can be just as good as Villegas on any given day. I’m going with Sabbatini.

Pick: Rory Sabbatini at Ev

3. Daniel Chopra -120 vs. Alex Cejka -110 - - Chopra is the better golfer and should have no trouble disposing of Cejka, match-up golf betting wise, within the first two rounds. I like Chopra to actually make a run for the title in this. So, why wouldn’t I like him to do well enough to beat Cejka?

Pick: Daniel Chopra at -120

4. Carl Petersson -125 vs. Matthew Goggin -105 - - Petersson is a tough pro. Often times he can make a run in a tournament by per talent. He’s going up against a golfer in Goggin who can really surprise under certain circumstances. I don’t think the Buick Invitational is one of those circumstances.

Pick: Carl Petersson at -125

5. Ben Crane Ev vs. Lucas Glover -130 - - Glover is the favorite because he’s made the cut twice this year while Crane has missed the cut once. I think Crane is the better golfer. So, I’m gong with him. Missing the cut once out of two starts really doesn’t say a whole lot to me. I’ll take the guy with odds.

Pick: Ben Crane at Ev

6. Ben Curtis +115 vs. Kevin Sutherland -145 - - Sutherland is playing much better which is why Curtis is the long shot in this. But I’m not sold on Sutherland just yet and I know that Ben Curtis, when he’s on, can beat almost anybody. I’ll take Curtis as a nice flyer in this match-up.

Pick: Ben Curtis at +115

Good Luck!
