PGA Tour Golf Betting – Buick Open Six Pack

Bookmark and Share by Dave D

It’s time for some golf betting action with the Buick Open except there is one lingering absence: Tiger Woods. The Tiger is at home nursing a knee injury, or maybe driving around town in one of his Buick’s, but he’s not at the popular sports betting tournament. Let’s see if we can find the winner in our weekly six-pack:

Jim Furyk 9-1

Jim Furyk is the favorite at this tournament and I’m going to take him to cover myself. Furyk has one of the best online wagering track records on Tour here. He won the Buick Open in 2003 and in 13 starts here has eight top-10s. Furyk will again be among the leaders come Sunday.

Justin Leonard 16-1

Justin Leonard is worth a look here and the odds are decent given the way his season is going. Obviously, the books are privy to the fact that he plays well at Warwick Hills. Leonard has a win under his belt at the Buick Open and finished second last year. Leonard just won the St. Jude two weeks ago so his confidence should continue.

Lucas Glover 45-1

I’m going to roll the dice with Lucas Glover, although this is admittedly a nervous play. Glove has been cut in three of his last six tournaments and probably isn’t having the kind of season he would like. But in the past two years at the Buick Open, Glover has placed in a tie for 10th and 15th. Glover played well enough to finish in a tie for 19th last week, which might help him break through this week.

Woody Austin 55-1

I rolled the dice with Woody Austin last week and he got cut. Thanks a lot. I’m still going back to the well with this Woody, also the well is clearly dry. The good news is that Austin has a good track record here, including a tie for second last year. He also won the tournament in 1995.

Chris DiMarco 60-1

Chris DiMarco hasn’t had a great year so far. He’s been cut nine times and only has a couple of top-25 finishes to his name. But one of those came last week with a tie for 13th at the Travelers Championship and maybe DiMarco can carry over some momentum. He has two runner-up finishes here so he does have a good course record.

Fred Funk 85-1

Fred Funk is the long shot of the week. In case you are wondering why you haven’t seen him around so much this season, he’s been splitting time between the Champions Tour and the PGA Tour. Funk hits the ball straight, which is what you need on this course. Funk has six top-10s here, which is second best among the players entered this week.
