PGA Update – Tiger Woods Still Really Good At Golf
by Tim Furious

Tiger Woods fell back early in the weekend, and then came storming back to thrash Padraig Harrington who had a stunning meltdown. Tiger is indeed back, ladies and gentlemen. His 70th career victory as a notice to the PGA - I’m going after my 15th major. Please step aside.
Padraig Harrington obliged on Sunday as his now infamous triple bogey performance on the 16th paved the way for Woods’ incredible victory. Harrington has always had talent, but he could not withstand the hurricane that was Tiger Woods on Sunday. As Tiger made shot-after-incredible-shot, Harrington quickly crumbled, surrendering his massive lead as Woods came up from behind like a speeding 18-wheeler that crushed Harrington’s puny Pinto.
Wood’s 70th career victory puts him just three behind Jack Nicklaus, and 12 behind the mark set by the great Sam Snead on the all-time list. And Tiger did something in his 70th victory that we rarely see from him. He is incredible at closing gaps, but not when he’s trailing by three shots or more. It’s actually a feat he’s accomplished just six times now in his storied career, and it was perhaps one of the only boosts of confidence that his opponents ever had. If you had three shots up on Tiger, you had a chance.
Unless it was this past weekend and your name was Padraig Harrington.
Tiger shot 10 birdies and one eagle in the final twenty-eight holes at Firestone, playing at 10-under and winning by four strokes. That’s an unbelievable feat when you consider he was only -2 to par to open the first two-thirds of the weekend and had off-set his six initial birdies with four bogeys. Somehow, someway, Tiger found a way to pull himself from the trenches and pour on the heat that caused Harrington’s meltdown. It’s a triumph that only two players in the world can accomplish, Tiger and Lefty, and it’s a scary thought given that the next major is just around the corner.
