PGA Golf Odds - Nissan Open

Phil Mickelson will be looking to pick up back-to-back tournament victories this weekend when he takes to Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California for the 2007 Nissan Open. And the oddsmakers at BetUS like his chances to hold up the trophy on Sunday afternoon - they’ve installed him as the +900 favorite to win the Nissan Open.

Mickelson is coming off a win in last week’s Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, picking up $990,000 and 4,500 FedEx Cup points with a five-stroke victory over Kevin Sutherland. John Mallinger finished six shots behind in third place, while Davis Love III and Greg Owen rounded out the Top 5 at Pebble Beach.

But even though Sutherland finished second last week the oddsmakers don’t like his chances of ending up a spot higher at the Nissan Open. Sutherland is way back on the odds list at +10000 right now, tied with David Howell and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Those three, though, are just slightly behind last year’s Nissan Open champ on the odds list, as Rory Sabbatini is an underdog +8000 to repeat at Riviera Country Club.

Adam Scott, the 2005 Nissan Open champion, is tied with Ernie Els (the 1999 Nissan Open winner) in second spot on the current odds list at +1100. Jim Furyk is next at +1200, with Vijay Singh rounding out the Top 5 contenders at +1400. Mike Weir, who won this tournament in both 2003 and 2004, is farther back at +5000 this time around.

Other past Nissan Open champions and their odds this week include Robert Allenby (+4000) and Billy Mayfair (+10000). Allenby was the winner in 2001, while Mayfair finished in first place back in 1998. Here is the complete list of the top contenders (according to the oddsmakers) in Pacific Palisades this weekend.
