With a strong field attending the PGA Tour’s stop this week, there aren’t many big-name golfers left over for the European Tour’s event. The European Tour (in conjunction with the Asian Tour) hosts the TCL Classic at the Yalong Bay Golf Club on China’s Hainan Island.
This tournament has only been held three times in the past, and two of the event’s past winners (Paul Casey and Colin Montgomerie) will be in Orlando instead.
That leaves Nick Dougherty and Paul McGinley as the co-favorites for this week’s European Tour event. Both Dougherty and McGinley are currently listed at +1000 odds to earn the victory, with Lee Westwood just behind those two top golfers at +1200 odds.
Here are the rest of the top contenders to win the TCL Classic this week:
Nick Dougherty +1000
Paul McGinley +1000
Lee Westwood +1200
Wen-Chong Liang +1600
Shiv Kapur +1800
Terry Pilkadaris +2200

Next week the PGA Tour and the European Tour will combine forces for the WGC-CA Championship at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami. This World Golf Championship event has a standard, 72-hole stroke-play format, and a field pulled from the top of the current World Golf Rankings and last year’s money lists of each of the member tours. This year’s purse is $8,000,000, and the defending champ is, of course, Tiger Woods.
