Golf Betting: WGC-CA Championship Top American

The WGC-CA is such a big tournament that online sports betting fans don’t have to settle on just betting a single player to actually win. The best golfers in the world will be teeing off at TPC Blue Monster at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami, Florida for the WGC-CA this Thursday.
What it means is that gamblers can almost cut the field in half, and still find good odds by making a wager on the Top American to win the WGC-CA.
Let’s check out some of the more interesting wagers being offered in the golf sportsbook for the Top American to win the WGC-CA.
PGA Tour: WGC-CA Championship Top American
Where: TPC Blue Monster at Doral Golf Resort and Spa, Miami, Florida
When: 1st Round March 11th
TV: 1st & 2nd Rounds – The Golf Channel
3rd and 4th Rounds – NBC
Best Bet: Jim Furyk +800
Furyk finished at -16, 3 strokes off of Phil Mickelson in the 2009 WGC-CA. Not only that but Furyk has 2 Top 3 finishes at the WGC-CA in the last 2 years. That makes him a serious contender to win it all in 2010 even though his best finish so far this year was in the WGC-Accenture Match Play where he ended up in 17th place. The pro could turn it around in a hurry and he’s teeing off on a course he loves. He’s worth a shot at the golf odds.
Stay Away From: Phil Mickelson +250
Those are Tiger Woods’ type odds on Lefty to beat every other American in the field. I wouldn’t take Tiger at those odds even if he weren’t screwed up in his head. I’m not ready to take those odds on Phil either. Lefty had been horrible up until his 8th place finish in the AT&T National and he followed that up with a 24th place finish in the Phoenix Open. He obviously doesn’t have his swing straight just yet. Taking low odds on him to get it straight this week isn’t a very wise thing to do.

Best +1100 to +3000 Bet: Sean O’Hair +1800
I like Watney and Mahan at +1200 to be the Top American but I’m going for more value with O’Hair. O’Hair finished tied for 13th at -10, 9 strokes off of Lefty, in the 2009 WGC-CA and could improve upon that this year. So far 2010 hasn’t been too kind to Sean. He finished 72nd in the Sony Open, 35th in the AT&T National Pro-Am and 53rd in the Phoenix Open. He did, however, finish 4th in the SBS Championship and 17th in the WGC-Accenture. Maybe, this is one of those weeks where he puts it altogether.
Best +3000 or Higher Bet: Brian Gay +4000
Gay had a terrible Phoenix Open finishing 68th, but before that his 2010 actually hadn’t been that bad. He recorded Top 25 finishes in the SBS Championship and Sony Open. He finished 15th in the Bob Hope Classic, 16th in the AT&T National Pro-Am and 9th in the WGC-Accenture. If he took that time after the Phoenix Open to adjust his swing and he’s healthy, then Gay could be a surprise player in this week’s WGC-CA. The talent is definitely there. Gay won 2 tournaments in 2009, mad the cut in 21 out of 27 tournaments played and made over 3.2 million dollars on the Tour.
