The PGA Tour and the European Tour will converge once again this week at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio for the 2007 WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. So if you’re going to do some golf betting for the event, who is currently listed as the tourney fave?
That’d be Tiger Woods, of course. Woods is pegged as the +225 favorite, and he’s also the defending champion at this tournament. In fact, Woods has won this event five times in its eight-year history (1999, 2000, 2001, 2005, and 2006). The other tourney champs? Craig Parry (2002), Darren Clarke (2003), and Stewart Cink (2004). Clarke is back at +12500 odds to win the event this week, while Cink is higher up at +3000 odds.
Jim Furyk is coming off a win in the Canadian Open, and he’s climbed up to No. 2 in the current edition of the World Golf Rankings. On the BetUS golf odds list Furyk is listed at +1000 to win this week’s World Golf Championships event. Ernie Els and Vijay Singh are next at +1400 odds, while Phil Mickelson is at +1600. British Open champion Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia round out the top tier of favorites at+2500 odds.
U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera is pegged at +3500 odds to win in Akron this week, while The Masters champion Zach Johnson is at +6000. The rest of the top contenders:
