European Golf Betting – Italian Open

The European Tour will be staging the Telecom Italia Open (Italian Open) this week. Last year’s championship was actually won by an Italian, with Francesco Molinari scoring the victory. Molinari is listed at +2500 odds to pick up back-to-back titles at the event, while two-time champ Ian Poulter is instead playing at Quail Hollow at the Wachovia Championship in North Carolina.
The 2001 champion is in the field, though – Gregory Havret is back at +5500 odds. So who’s the favorite at Castello di Tolcinasco Golf & Country Club this week? Charl Schwartzel tops the list at +1100 odds, followed by Bradley Dredge at +1600, and both Nick Dougherty and Raphael Jacquelin at +2000. Here are the rest of the top odds:

Schwartzel currently sits in sixth place in the European Tour’s Order of Merit rankings, while the tour’s top golfer – Henrik Stenson – is joining Poulter on the other side of the pond this week. Goosen (No. 2 for the Order of Merit) and Els (No. 5) will also be playing the Wachovia Championship in Charlotte instead of the Italian Open this week.
The European Tour will stage the Valle Romano Open de Andalucia at the Aloha Golf Club in Spain next week. The rest of the tour’s schedule for the month of May features the Irish Open, the BMW PGA Championship, and finally The Celtic Manor Wales Open.
