Boxing betting fans were staring at a bleak-looking set of boxing lines for about a week or so in mid-July, after a series of big money title fights were cancelled. Dedicated bettors were forced to wager on prospects and showcase bouts usually set on Friday nights. However, all of that changed in a huge way quite recently.
For starters, the Floyd Mayweather vs. Juan Manuel Marquez bout was salvaged and rescheduled for mid-September, and the massive SHOWTIME World Boxing Classic was announced, pitting the top six super-middleweights against one another. To top it off however, Wladimir Klitschko will face Cristobal Arreola for the unified heavyweight crown, David Haye will meet Nikolai Valuev, and Manny Pacquiao will test Miguel Cotto…all before the end of the year!
Indeed, the news has been excellent for boxing fans long-term, however there are some great bouts on the horizon, including Paulie Malignaggi coming in as an underdog on boxing odds against Juan Diaz on August 22. But before that, fight fans will get a chance to watch a legend at work one more time as Roy Jones Jr. faces Jeff Lacy in Biloxi, Mississippi, to determine who has the best left hook in boxing today!
