NBA Betting - Cleveland Cavaliers (- 4.5) vs. Miami Heat (+ 4.5)
By D. S. Williamson
I don’t understand odds-makers love affair with the Miami Heat. There is absolutely no reason to think that the Heat will lose this game by anything less than 12 to 28 points. That’s right. The first number is 12. The second number is 28.
Before I get into how bad the Heat actually are, here are some trends:
The Miami Heat are 1 and 9 against the spread and straight-up in their last 10 games.
The Miami Heat are 5 and 28 against the spread in their last 33 games at home.
The Miami Heat are 1-10-1 against the spread in their last 12 games versus a team from the NBA Central Division.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games following a straight-up win.
I hate to sound like a broken record but the trend of the year is wagering against the Miami Heat. It’d say do it blindly any time the line is under 14 points. Why? Because the Heat are simply the worst team, from a nba bettor’s point-of-view, in the NBA right now.
Dwayne Wade means that odds-makers, for some strange reason, believe that the Miami Heat always have a chance in games where they are at home. This include playing against a team like the Cavaliers who have the best player in the NBA (after that kid named Kobe) in Lebron James.
King James rolls all over this team. He will put up 30 and 10. Heck, he might get a triple-double in this game. Who knows? All I know is that the Heat are my favorite team to play against this year. They’re horrendous in every phase of the game and they have no heart. Sometimes they run around the court and wonder why they are even in games. I don’t understand this thing with Pat Riley. He can’t motivate these guys at all. They got the one ring and that’s it. It’s time to hang it up, Pat!
The BetUS line for this game opened at – 3.5. At the time of this writing the line is – 4.5. That’s a full point swing and it’s only around 9:00 a.m. here on the West Coast. I think the line will drift up to 6.
I don’t care. The Cavs should still cover the spread.
Right now the BetUS NBA Betting line is Cleveland Cavaliers – 4.5 against the spread on the road versus the Miami Heat.
I like the Cavaliers to beat the spread in this game. The worst team in the NBA shouldn’t have much of chance on MLK day of taking it to King James and the Cavs. This one could be over by the start of the third quarter.
