NFL Football Betting – Randy Moss’ Receiving Yards

Can Randy Moss, who had only one catch against the Jacksonville Jaguars last weekend, improve on those numbers to a considerable degree this Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, as his New England Patriots are favored by 13.5 points in the BetUS NFL football betting odds for this AFC Championship Game?

Over 90.5 receiving yards -120

Under 90.5 receiving yards -120

I guess you can do a split any way you want of any player's regular season, but let's do one that may indeed follow some logic:

In the first ten games of the regular season, Randy Moss caught 66 passes for 1052 yards. That averages out to a little more than 105 yards a game. In the seven games since, including the playoff contest against San Diego, he's caught only 33 passes for 65 yards a game.

Is it that Moss is getting much less productive? No, I don't think so. When Moss first came over to the Patriots, there was still some question among a lot of people in the NFL as to whether he could still be a star receiver. That was because he grew stale with the lack of imagination in Oakland, where ironically, one of his head coaches was Norv Turner, now the head man with the

Chargers. I'm not sure a lot of teams knew what to expect from Moss when he put the Patriots uniform on.

But they soon found out indeed. And then defenses geared up to stop him.

As a result he makes a little less of an impact himself, though he does serve as someone who deflects attention away from other receivers, like Wes Welker, Donta Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney, who have reaped the benefit.

And now we have controversy.

A woman in Fort Lauderdale, Rachelle Washington, has come forward with allegations that Moss committed battery against her. She has even gotten a protective order against him from the court in Broward County (Fla.). Moss has countered by saying, "I want to make something clear. In my whole entire life of living 30 years, I've never put my hand on one woman, physically or in an angry manner."

Whether this affects his play, or that of the team, is something that is debatable. But I can't imagine it helps all that much. Tom Brady is not committed to forcing the ball into Moss; if San Diego wants to take away his most explosive receiving weapon, he is content to go to other competent receivers in moving the ball up the field.

With this in mind, we're going "under." That is, UNDER the 90.5 receiving yards, as it is posted in the BetUS NFL football betting props.
