Justine Henin vs. Nicole Vaidisova

Tennis Prediction : World No.1 Justine Henin enters this match as a substantial favorite. Leading 3-0 in head-to-heads over Nicole Vaidisova, Henin has a comfortable edge coming into the semifinal. As one of the most consistent, if not outstanding single’s player on the WTA tour, Henin is without a doubt the sure play. Henin takes a 56/4 record for the season, which includes an enviable eight WTA titles, into this match.

Nicole Vaidisova has a lot to recommend her in this match. The Czech phenomenon has an overwhelming arsenal of shots, not to mention one of the best serves on the tour; however, in spite of her talent, Vaidisova is not a sure play. To be sure, she could power her way past Henin, but more likely than not, Vaidisova, who needs more seasoning as a player, will be outwitted on the court by one of the best strategic thinkers in the game – Henin.

Tennis Free Pick: Henin in straight sets

Tatiana Golovin vs. Francesca Schiavone

Tennis Prediction: No.18 Tatiana Golovin is enjoying a career best season and arrives as the favorite in this match up. Recommending her is 42/16 record for the season and two WTA titles. Golovin was the runner-up in Stuttgart, lost to Henin in three sets.

Both Golovin and Schiavone received a free pass into the semifinal; Golovin eased into the final four when No. 11 Marion Bartoli retired with an injured knee in the first set, and Schiavone advanced when No. 2 Svetlana Kuznetsova retired down a set and 3-3 in the second with a shoulder strain.

To be sure, both Schiavone and Golovin will be well rested and sprightly for their match tomorrow. However, the balance tips in favor of Golovin. Golovin is the better play.

Tennis Free Pick: Golovin in three sets.
