WTA Tennis Betting - Bausch & Lomb First Round Lines
By Nila Amerova
Amelie Island, Florida – Heading up the line up at the Bausch & Lomb Championships is top seed and sports betting favourite Maria Sharapova, followed by compatriot Anna Chakvetadze and Slovak Daniela Hantuchova. With this the first of two American clay court events on the WTA calendar, bet on the women as they warm-up their clay court game for the second Grand Slam of the season in May – the French Open. BetUS Sportsbook is taking action on this Tier II event at the Amelie Island Plantation in Amelie Island, Florida.
Tennis Betting Line: Katarina Srebotnik -285 Yung Jan Chan +195
Match Time: 10:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 7, 2008
Tennis Prediction: This is the first-ever career meeting between No.26 Katerina Srebotnik and Yung-Jan Chan of Taipei. The Slovenian Srebotnik enters this matchup with a 12-7 record for the season, which includes two quarterfinal appearances – Auckland and Sydney (her best tournament results thus far). Favored on the money line at -285, Srebotnik is a good play in her first clay court tournament of the season.
Tennis Free Picks: Srebotnik in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Elena Vesnina -375 Milagros Sequera +235
Match Time: 10:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 7, 2008
Tennis Prediction: No.97 Milagros Sequera arrives in Amelie Island with a losing record at 2-4 for the season. At +235 underdog odds, the Venezuelan is a long shot bet. Meanwhile, Russian Elena Vesnina, who currently ranks in the Top 50, is the better play at -375 favorite odds. Vesnina favors both hard and clay surface. She arrives in Amelie Island on the heels of a good run at the Sony Ericsson Open, where she reached the R16 (l. to Justine Henin). She holds a 9-7 record for the season.
Tennis Free Picks: Vesnina in three sets
Tennis Betting Line: Gisela Dulko +150 Edina Gallovits -200
Match Time: 10:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 7, 2008
Tennis Prediction: This is the first-ever meeting between No.46 Gisela Dulko and No.56 Edina Gallovits. The Argentinean Dulko favors clay surfaces – a surface on which she earned her best results. At +150 underdog odds, Dulko holds value. However going against her is an underwhelming record for the season at 2-4. In this her first clay court tournament of the year, Dulko has an opportunity to kick-off a turn-around.
Romanian Gallovitis also favors clay surfaces so she poses a good challenge for Dulko. Gallovitis is contesting her second clay court tournament of the year. In March, she reached the quarterfinals of Acapulco (l. to Flavia Pennetta). With her clay court game warmed up, she holds a slight edge over Dulko and at -200 favorite odds she receives a nod from the bookies for the win. Nevertheless, I like Dulko’s chances in this match.
Tennis Free Picks: Dulko in three sets
