WTA Tennis Betting - Third Round Tennis Free Picks
By Nila Amerova
Amelia Island, Florida – The Bausch & Lomb Championships received mixed results today following second round sports betting action, mainly the fall of third seed Daniela Hantuchova to Karolina Sprem and fourth seed Marion Bartoli to Olga Govortsova. So as the draw moves forward, minus one of the pre-tournament favorites at BetUS Sportsbook, here is a look at the upcoming third round matchups scheduled for Thursday April 10, 2008, namely the blockbuster meeting between Amelie Mauresmo and Agnieska Radwanska.
Tennis Betting Line: Agnes Szavay vs. Katerina Srebotnik
Match Time: 11:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday April 10, 2008
Tennis Prediction: After a promising 2007 season, Agnes Szavay has barely made an audible impression this year. Her best performance came in Paris, where she reached the final, but since then she has crashed out of every tournament prematurely. Against Katerina Srebotnik, the Hungarian starlet should be the better play, but her shortage on confidence renders her a risky bet.
As this is the first clay court event she is competing in this year, Szavay may very well turnaround her season, but I have to admit I like Srebotnik’s chances. She enters the third round on the heels of victories over Yung-Jan Chan and Lucie Safarova respectively. With two matches under her belt on the green set clay courts of the Bausch & Lomb championships – one more than Szavay as she started her tournament in the second round after receiving a bye – Srebotnik’s game is better tuned and more importantly she is playing with more confidence than her third round opponent. Take Srebotnik in this matchup to upset the eighth seed Szavay
Tennis Free Pick: Srebotnik in straight sets.
Tennis Betting Line: Amelie Mauresmo vs. Agnieska Radwanska
Match Time: 11:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday April 10, 2008
Tennis Prediction: Amelie Mauresmo has won this event once and finished runner-up once. As one of the marquee names at the Bausch & Lomb Championships Mauresmo’s third round encounter is much anticipated, as it will pit her against the fast rising Pole Agnieska Radwanska. Radwanska made a name for herself when she dismantled Sharapova at the US Open last year. Mauresmo was similarly unravelled by Casey Dellacqua at the Australian Open.
This encounter will be interesting, as it will pit the old guard against the new guard in tennis. Mauresmo is not mentally the soundest tennis player on court and I think Radwanska will have the edge.
Tennis Free Pick: Radwanska in three sets
