WTA Tennis Odds - Qatar Open Tennis Free Picks
by Nila Amerova
Doha, Qatar – The Qatar Open moves into the second round on Wednesday February 20, 2008, and another round of exciting tennis betting action is upon us, so here is a look at some of the tennis odds currently available at BetUS Sportsbook.
Tennis Betting Line: Maria Sharapova -6500 Galina Voskoboeva +140
Match Time: 07:00 AM Eastern Time, Wednesday February 20, 2008
Tennis Prediction: Australian Open champion Maria Sharapova is a whopping favorite at -6500—hardly a surprise as she faces fellow compatriot Galina Voskoboeva, who ranks well beyond the Top 100. If Sharapova brings the same punishing form we saw in her title run at the 2008 Australian Open to Doha, Qatar, then I expect Sharapova to dismiss Voskoboeva in straight sets and relinquishing very few games.
Tennis Free Picks: Sharapova in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Anabel Medina Garrigues +160 Maria Kirilenko -210
Match Time: 07:00 AM Eastern Time, Wednesday February 20, 2008
Tennis Prediction: No.26 Maria Kirilenko, who has always been complimented for her beauty, has rarely been equally praised for her game. Somewhat unfairly underestimated on court the Russian tennis star quickly proved she was a contender early this season, when she ousted Ana Chakvetadze at the 2008 Australian Open to reach the R16, where she lost to Daniela Hantuchova. Kirilenko arrives at the Qatar Open with a 5/2 record. This is her first tournament since the Australian Open. Kirilenko holds a 1-0 record over Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain.
Tennis Free Picks: Kirilenko in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Sybille Bammer -400 Monica Niculescu +250
Match Time: 07:00 AM Eastern Time, Wednesday February 20, 2008
Tennis Prediction: No.19 Sybille Bammer of Austria enjoyed a good season, according to her standards, in 2007, but got off to a slow start in 2008. In the four tournaments she competed in this season, she has not advanced past the second round. A sign of wavering confidence or better yet, an opportunity for the underdog No. 150 Monica Niculescu of Romania to pull off an upset. Overall this matchup, has the makings of a derby, first one to race out of the blocks will advance. Bammer is the better play, owing to her experience and ranking, but even the slightest bit of mental fragility could give the Romanian enough room to take the lead.
Tennis Free Picks: Bammer to persevere in three sets.
