WTA Tennis Betting – Bangalore Open Second Round Picks
by Nila Amerova
Bangalore, India – The second round of the Bangalore Open 2008 is set to kick-off on Wednesday March 5, 2008 in Bangalore, India – or the wee hours of the morning for all of North American tennis bettors! So without further ado, here is a look at some of the matchups that are scheduled in the second round.
Tennis Betting Line: Akgul Amanmuradova +250 Agnes Szavay -400
Match Time: 12:00 AM Eastern Time
Tennis Prediction: Promising Hungarian tennis star No.18 Agnes Szavay has had a miserable start to her 2008 season; save for her run to the Paris final, in six tournaments she suffered five first round exits, three of which were in back-to-back tournaments. Arriving on Indian soil with an underwhelming 4/6 record, Szavay has yet to win her first match outside of France. Favored at -400, Szavay’s poor season makes her a risky favorite.
Akgul Amanmuradova from Uzbekistan will be a tough opponent; in that, she appears to be match-ready. Amanmuradova arrives in the second round with a three set victory over Yaroslava Shvedova of Russia. Standing 6’3” tall, Amanmuradova could be an intimidating opponent for a floundering Szavay. Taking Szavay’s lack of confidence, Amanmuradova at +250 holds more appeal
Tennis Free Picks: Amanmuradova in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Patty Schnyder -600 Aiko Nakamura +350
Match Time: 12:00 AM Eastern Time
Tennis Prediction: No.12 Patty Schnyder owns a comfortable 3-0 record over Aiko Nakamura and enters the Bangalore Open 2008 with a 6/5 record. Although Schnyder did not enjoy much success in her previous two tournaments, at -600, Schnyder is the better play in this matchup.
Tennis Free Picks: Schnyder in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line: Jelena Jankovic -2000 Sanda Mamic +800
Match Time: 12:00 AM Eastern Time
Tennis Prediction: Favored at a whopping price tag -2000, Jankovic is hands down the better play in this matchup. Sanda Mamic is an untried tennis player and with very little to recommend her – by way of any activity on the Sony Ericsson WTA circuit as she is a relative newcomer – she is a long shot bet.
Tennis Free Picks: Jankovic in straight sets
