UFC Ultimate Fighter Finale - Tanner vs. Grove in the Main Event
Ultimate Fighting Championship has their Ultimate Fighter Finale this Saturday night at The Palms Resort and Casino in Nevada, Las Vegas. The Palms is owned by the Maloof brothers - - those goofy guys in the Carl’s Jr. commercials. The Maloofs also own the Sacramento Kings of the NBA. They are no strangers to big-time sports betting events.
One thing of interest is the fact that usually big time resort/casinos like The Palms would host boxing matches, not UFC matches. That’s what makes this Saturday so relevant in the minds of many online sportsbook betting fans. UFC has become almost as popular, if not as popular, as traditional boxing. The online betting opportunities have become more available then traditional boxing wagering because a UFC fight doesn’t last nearly as long as a boxer would in a boxing match. That means that a promoter for UFC could easily put together a card of ten fights instead of maybe five or six boxing matches. More MMA betting opportunities for sports gambling faithful is a good thing. Boxing should take note.
There are six matches that BetUS is offering online wagers on, and I intend to pick the winner, based on the BetUS online sportsbook wagering odds, in every single one!

Josh “The People’s Warrior” Burkman – 220 vs. Dustin Hazelett + 175 - - Burkman is 20 and 5. Hazelett is 12 and 5. Looking at both of these guys it’s a wonder that Hazelett has any shot at all. Burkman looks like he’s going to chew off Hazelett’s arm. Anything can happen in a UFC fight and that includes Hazelett suddenly becoming a much better fighter than he looks in his matches and taking down Burkman at big odds. I’m not going to dump on Hazelett, I don’t like him that much, but Burkman to me isn’t as big of a stand-out as the odds indicate. Hazelett could win this match. He has three inches on Burkman and if he could find a way to use that height to his advantage, I’m thinking an excellent fulcrum punch to Burkman’s jaw, then he might win.

Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez – 500 vs. Luigi Fioravanti - - Nightmare should tear up Luigi in the first round. Sanchez is a beast. He’s only lost two fights in his career and can just dominate as soon as the first bell sounds. There should be no way that Fioravanti does anything close to beating Diego Sanchez. The online betting odds are awful, but I can’t take the long-shot in this match.
MLB Free Picks: Diego “Nightmare” Sanchez at – 500
Jeremy Horn – 120 vs. Dean Lister – 110 - - This should be an extremely competitive match. Horn has a decided advantage in terms of experience having gone 88-17-5 throughout his career but Lister is the fresher guy having fought only 15 total fights. In Mixed Martial Arts experience isn’t nearly as important as the skill level of the fighter. Lister has the skills to take Horn down. That means that he’s a better online bet, because of his odds, then Jeremy Horn. I’m sticking to my overlay belief system and going with Lister.

Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman + 105 vs. Drew McFedries – 135 - - Both of these dudes look like they could crush a can between their index finger and thumb. They’re both tough looking fellas, but McFedries appears to be the better fighter. He is 6 and 3 while Eastman is 15-7-1. The odds are better on Eastman and usually I would take a chance on the guy with better online odds, but McFedries strikes me as a fighter coming into his own right now while Eastman has had his chances to make himself a champion. I’ll go with McFedries in this one.

Spencer “The King” Fisher – 200 vs. Jeremy “Lil’ Heathen” Stephens + 160 - - Spencer is nicknamed after a strange Robin Williams movie that came out in the early nineties about two homeless guys. I forget. Maybe one was homeless. In any case, that’s enough for me to say that he warrants a wager. Oh, that and the fact that Lil’ Hethen, as clever as that nickname is, has no chance against the more powerful, astute, Spencer Fisher. Fisher should dominate.

Evan Tanner – 185 vs. Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove + 145 - - In the main event former middleweight champion Evan Tanner takes on Kendall “Da Spyder” Grove. Grove looks pretty good with a 10 and 5 record, but Tanner is a former champion with a 34 and 8 record. Tanner should win this easily unless he goes into the ring out of shape which I don’t expect he will. I’m putting my money on Tanner.
