UFC Fighter Profile - Josh "Kos" Koscheck
By BetUS Staff
A former collegiate wrestling champion, he went 42-0 as a senior and was the NCAA Division I National Champion in the 174-pound weight class.
All round this guy was, and is, a helluva good wrestler.
His journey to the semi finals of The Ultimate Fighter 1 was only an opportunity for him to get some experience in the fight game. And he came within a split decision victory of making the final. Imagine that from a guy that had relatively no striking experience whatsoever.
This cat is a born fighter.
Almost three years later, Josh Koscheck boasts and mma record of 10-1 and has spent his time maintaining his wrestling while learning how to strike. 10-1 with NO striking! This guy is a prodigy.
We have all seen the likes of Chuck Liddell, Tito Ortiz and Matt Hughes be dominant in the UFC with solid wrestling foundations as the cornerstones of their offence, they merely augmented it by learning to strike. Has Josh Koscheck learned to puch yet?
Diego Sanchez better hope not.
