Wager On UFC - Fight Night 12
By Robby Maddux
Tonight, live on Spike starting at 9pm EST Mike "Quick" Swick will go to war with Josh "The People's Warrior" Burkman in Fight Night 12's main event among several other great fights being televised nationally for your UFC betting pleasure.
UFC odds lists Swick the luke-warm favorite at -180 for this welterweight war who brings a MMA record of 10-2-0 to the Octagon. The more experienced Burkman, who's 20-4-0, isn't getting much love from oddsmakers that's tagged him the underdog at +150.
Swick is coming off a loss to Yushin Okami via unanimous decision in UFC 69 in a middleweight fight at 185-pounds. He'll look to bounce back this evening utilizing solid striking skills, speed and aggression. As well, he'll be dropping down to the 170-pound group.
Swick’s success tonight as the chalk will depend heavily on how his body adjusts to cutting significant weight for the first time in his career to fight as a welterweight.
Popular 170-pound star Burkman intends to prove that life among the welterweights will be no easier for Swick. Burkman is a big, strong 170-pounder with very solid wrestling skills.
Burkman's last fight was a winning one at UFC 77, scoring a majority decision against Forrest Petz. Burkman has won five of his last seven UFC encounters.
This will be a great matchup that will catapult the winner into a welterweight group of world-class title contenders that currently includes interim champion Georges St-Pierre, former champion Matt Hughes, Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck and Karo Parisyan.
There's odds on eight other fights for tonight's event. Including matchups between
Patrick "The Predator" Cote vs.
Drew McFedries;
Alvin "Kid" Robinson vs.
Nate Diaz and
Michihiro "Micci" Omigawa vs.
Thiago Tavares to name a few.
