UFC 69 - The Shootout - Rush vs The Terror
By Jeremy McMurray
Ok, UFC fans, this is the main event. So, let’s be realistic here, and we can all make some money.
We have Matt Serra, at +600 odds, up for a title shot. Do you think he stands a chance against St. Pierre? St. Pierre, at 9-1 odds in his favor, is the man who stripped away Matt Hughes’ title belt in the second round, by TKO!
The oddsmakers at BetUS.com are giving St.Pierre -900 odds, which makes him a huge favorite. And for good reason; the man’s a machine
St. Pierre only has one loss on his record, to Matt Hughes, and has since beaten him. This is his first title defense, so you know he’s training hard. He’s a deadly striker and brilliant Jiu-Jitsu artist. All his fights have been a great demonstration of Mixed Martial Arts.
Serra has four losses on his record, all of them in the UFC, but he’s a whopping +600 underdog in this one. Yes, he did beat three guys in The Ultimate Fighter series to get here, but they were nowhere near the caliber of fighter as St. Pierre.
Let’s not count Serra all the way out, though; he’s a very good submission artist and world class at Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. If St. Pierre makes a mistake, Serra will take advantage. Will he shock everyone with a win? We’ll see
When asked what his thoughts were on the fight with Georges St. Pierre, Serra replied, “He’s obviously a very tough guy, well rounded and always in fantastic shape. He’s gonna be a challenge and I’m looking forward to that. Right now, he’s the number one guy, the champ, and I predict a very tough fight, but I’m gonna be up for the challenge.”
When asked what his thoughts were on the fight with Matt Serra, St.Pierre replied, “I never underestimate any opponent. Matt Serra is probably one of the best Jiu-Jitsu players in the UFC, so I’ve been training real hard for this fight. I’m the champ and my belt is not going anywhere.”
So now is your chance to make some easy money by betting at BetUS.com. Do you like the favorite at -900 odds, or are you gonna chance a big +600 payoff for the underdog?
