UFC 68 Betting - Renato Sobral Vs Jason Lambert

Renato "Babalu" Sobral (27-6-0) Vs. Jason "The Punisher" Lambert (22-6-0)

UFC 68: The Uprising featuring Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture as the main event, and high profile fights including Matt Hughes Vs. Chris Lytle, and Rich Franklin Vs. Jason McDonald. We'll also get to see Renato "Babalu" Sobral Vs. Jason "The Punisher" Lambert.

This is Renato "Babalu" Sobral's first time back in the Octagon since getting whooped by Chuck Liddell back in August at UFC 62. He now faces Jason Lambert, who also had a big loss against Rashad Evans last time out in the Octagon at UFC 63 in September. Both these fighters will be trying hard for a win.

Sobral is the favorite going into this fight at -380 (subject to change) in spite of his brief appearance against Chuck Liddell at UFC 62; he was TKOed in only 1:35 of the first round. He had won his three previous fights by submission. Before these three wins however, he was also TKOed in the first round by Chuck Liddell at UFC 40 back in November 2002.

Sobral has a list of titles including Brazilian National Muay Thai Champion 1992, Brazilian National Wrestling Champion 1998, 1999, 2000, South American Wrestling Champion 1998, IFC Light Heavyweight Champion 2003, Jungle Fight Champion 2004, and Cage Rage 9 Champion 2004. The guy obviously has experience, and this will be his ninth UFC event.

 

Lambert's titles include Gladiator Heavyweight champion, Gladiator Light-heavyweight champion, and WEC light-heavyweight champion. He has a background in wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu and is a well-rounded fighter. He will have a big disadvantage on the ground against Sobral, who is a Jiu-Jitsu black belt.

Lambert was on an eight-fight winning streak before losing to Rashad Evans at UFC 63. Lambert was KOed in 2:22 of round 2. Some of Lambert's notable wins include victories over Marvin Eastman, Travis Wiuff and Terry Martin. Lamberts professional MMA career dates back to 2001, and he even had a loss to current UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia back in 2002.

 

This could be an epic battle, or else we could see one of these experienced fighters going out early. Sobral is probably the more hyped of the two, but it might be worth betting on the underdog Lambert at +300 (subject to change).
