UFC 68 Betting - Matt Hamill Vs Rex Holman
By John A. Edwards
Matt "The Hammer" Hamill (4-0-0) Vs. Rex "Big Dog" Holman (4-1-0) Current Line: Hamill -280 Holman +220 (Subject to change)
UFC 68: The Uprising features Tim Sylvia vs. Randy Couture as the main event and boasts a pretty exciting under card. Matt Hughes will be back in the Octagon for the first time since his UFC 65 loss to Georges St. Pierre. He takes on Chris Lytle and will be eager to get back to winning ways.
Matt "The Hammer" Hamill is also back in the Octagon to take on Rex "Big Dog" Holman. Hamill appeared on Spike TV's reality show TUF 3, and was fought against Seth Petruzelli at the Ortiz vs. Shamrock 3 event, beating him by TKO in round 3. Hamill looked solid all the way through TUF 3 and won a preliminary fight against Mike Nickels via decision, however he was unable to progress to the semi-finals due to injuries picked up in that fight. Michael Bisping went on to win the UFC contract as a result of his victory in the TUF 3 finale. Hamill is a big puncher with a lot of wrestling experience. He has several gold and silver medals in freestyle wrestling and in Greco-Roman wrestling.
Holman is a UFC debutante, but has four wins and one loss under his belt. He's fought in lesser known event such as 'Legends of Fighting' and 'Gladiators Fighting Series'. This guy is relatively unknown but looking the current odds, he's a big underdog. He could either end up being a punch-bag for Hamill, or he could give us a good fight. This is apparently Holman's 4th fight in 6 months, but at the at age 37 he is giving up 7 years to his opponent.
While Hamill looked impressive in TUF 3 and in his early fights, we don't know what he's really capable of. This fight could quickly end up on the ground, although Holman said on the UFC website that he's been practicing leg kicks. Hamill will want to take him to ground quickly and should be able to pound out a win.
I'm going to put my money on Hamill. Hopefully he'll show us what he's capable of, and he could end up becoming a big star in the UFC 205 lbs. division.
