Tennis Betting - ATP BMW Open Quarterfinal Picks

Munich, Germany – As the remaining 16 players were trimmed down to the final eight at the BMW Open following second round action today, online betting markets are already up and running with tennis odds for the quarterfinal round. So as the players get set to vie for a place in the semi-final tomorrow, sports bettors, who have not got their tennis picks in order by now, check out the following breakdown for the quarterfinal matchups, complete with the tennis lines currently available at BetUS Sportsbook on the BMW Open. There is an angle of profit for sports bettors wagering on tennis.

Tennis Betting Line: Paul Henri Mathieu -300 Marin Cilic +200

Match Time: 06:00 AM Eastern Time, Friday May 2, 2008

Tennis Prediction: No.18 Paul-Henri Mathieu of France reaches his third ATP-level quarterfinal of the 2008 season in Munich; his best result this year was a semi-final run in Marseille. He enters as the -300 favourite to reach his second semi-final of the year over No. 50 Marin Cilic of Croatia (tipped at +200 underdog odds). Competing for the first time at the BMW Open, Mathieu improves to 14-10 for the year. Meanwhile, the Croatian, who also appears in Munich for the first time, improves to 12-10 for the year and reaches only his second quarterfinal of the year, since Chennai, at the beginning of the season, where he went on to reach the semi-final (l. to Youzhny). This matchup should be a closer contest between the pair than the line would suggest. If there were a deciding edge, it would be Mathieu’s surface advantage.

Tennis Free Picks: Mathieu in three sets

Tennis Betting Line: Hyung Taik Lee +210 Simone Bolelli -325

Match Time: 06:00 AM Eastern Time, Friday May 2, 2008

Tennis Prediction: No. 58 Simone Boleilli improves to 10-10 for the year and reaches his second ATP-level quarterfinal of the year. In Zagreb, Boleilli reached the semi-final; he lost to eventual champion Sergiy Stakhovsky. Tipped at -325, Boleilli is favoured for the win over No. 55 Hyung-Taik Lee, who won back-to-back matches for just the second time this year to book his berth in the final eight. Prior to the BMW Open, Lee’s best run was a three-match winning streak at the AMS Indian Wells; lost to Stanislas Wawrinka in the R16. Both players enjoy hard courts; however, based on their tournament performance, I like Bolelli’s chances to advance into the final four.

Tennis Free Picks: Boleilli in straight sets
