Matches are scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, 2007
Tennis Betting Line: Novak Djokovic -1600 Fabrice Santoro +700
Tennis Prediction: This match marks the first ever meeting between Fabrice “The Magician” Santoro and No.3 Novak Djokovic. Heavily favored at -1600 Djokovic is, without a doubt, the better play, but the Frenchman Santoro is worth considering as well.
Last week, in Lyon, heavily favored No.5 Andy Roddick, in his opening match of the tournament, was ousted by Santoro in three sets; this week, the home crowd will be hoping for much the same performance against the third seeded Djokovic.
Santoro is a wily and tricky player. Djokovic has not had the opportunity to play him yet, which could be just the advantage Santoro needs. Perhaps it is a stretch to expect Santoro to duplicate his performance, but with this the last tournament of the season, anything is possible.
Tennis Free Pick: Santoro for the upset in three sets.
Tennis Betting Line: Nicolas Mahut +170 James Blake -220
Tennis Prediction: James Blake is not a player that has enjoyed a lot of success in the latter half of the 2007 season. In his last two events, Blake crashed out in the second round – albeit to much better opponents than he will face in Mahut tomorrow. Against Mahut, Blake holds a 1-0 record, owing to a victory in 2006 Indianapolis. In spite of Mahut’s home court advantage, Blake is the better play.
Tennis Free Pick: Blake in straight sets
