Tennis Betting - Wimbledon – Novak Djokovic’s Quarter Preview

by Nila Amerova

London, England – Falling into the top half of the draw at the 2008 Wimbledon this year, few online sports betting faithful would wager against one of the Wimbledon favourites for the title this year Novak Djokovic for a berth in the final four. Djokovic’s rising stock in the tennis betting markets at BetUS Sportsbook is aided by a quarter that looks more like a stroll through the luscious lawns of the All England Club then an all-out duel from round-to-round. So as early round tennis betting action kicks off in Wimbledon today, here is a look at how Djokovic’s quarter could play out through the fortnight of exciting online tennis betting action at BetUS Sportsbook.

Touted as the bad boy of tennis, Djokovic (or Nole as he likes to be called) is not reticent enough to subdue his opinions on Wimbledon betting this year. In particular, Federer’s falling stock in the tennis betting markets. Eternally optimistic about his own 2008 Wimbledon odds for the title this year Djokovic has gone so far as to make his own prediction on Wimbledon wagering; that is, the Swiss maestro will not walk away with his sixth straight Wimbledon title.

Federer arrives in London boasting an enviable 60-match-winning streak on grass, recently augmented with a title victory at the Gerry Weber Open, but according to “Nole,” 12-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has been branded a “shaken” player. So what does the sports betting community make of the rather cocky remarks the Serbian has made – does it warrant merit when betting on Wimbledon this week and next? Well, whether bettors take heed of Djokovic’s comments ( or not) the tension should make for an exciting tennis betting in the top half of the draw – a section that will hopefully play out to expectations and see the two inextricably draw towards each other for a semi-final clash.

But before we get ahead of ourselves let us look at the tennis betting value in the early rounds of tennis betting in his section of the draw. In his section, seeded threats still alive in the championships come in the form of 10th seed Marcos Baghdatis, 13th seed Stanislas Wawrinka, 21st seed Juan Carlos Ferrero, 29th seed Andreas Seppi and 31st seed Fernando Lopez.( Seventh seed David Nalbandian crashed in his opening round match against Frank Dancevic of Canada.) A stumbling block in the unseeded category, comes in the form of two-time Grand Slam champion Marat Safin – a second round challenger who could give the obnoxious Serb something to think about.

Should Nole reach the final four then he will most likely have a crack at the shaken man himself ( well at least as I have predicted Federer to reach the semi-finals). Djokovic has won two of eight encounters against Federer, one of which was in the semi-final en route to his victory at the 2008 Australian Open with the Swiss suffering the effects of glandular fever. A lone Grand Slam title has given Djokovic the confidence and coolness to topple 12-time Grand Slam champion (and five-time Wimbledon champion) Roger Federer. What do you think? Hold your thoughts for when the time comes you can bet on it yourself at BetUS Sportsbook.

So there you have it, a nice short break down for you of some of the exciting tennis betting options available at BetUS Sportsbook. Now that you are all read up, you are ready to start betting on tennis!
