Tennis Betting: Wager on Vaidisova at the Kremlin Cup

Moscow, Russia – On the women’s side, the Russians ruled tournament play on Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Aside from the untimely dismissal of Maria Sharpova in the second round by Viktoria Azarenka, Russia’s Svetlana Kuznetsova, Dinara Safina, and Vera Zvonareva gave the crowds lots to cheer about. Will Elena Vesnina fare just as well? BetUS Sportsbook tips Vesnina at +350 underdog odds.

Tennis Line: Elena Vesnina +350 Nicole Vaidisova -600

Match Time: 03:00 AM EST

Tennis Prediction: No. 54 Elena Vesnina of Russia holds home court advantage – a huge edge in matches and one that will help Vesnina for she needs all the help she can get against No. 13 Nicole Vaidisova.

Tipped at +350 underdog odds, Vesnina (21-years-old) brings a 23/23 record for the season into her second round match. Since turning pro in 2002, Vesnina has not won a single WTA title.

Vaidisova’s has perhaps one of the most powerful serves and the best forehand shots on the WTA tour. Only 18-years-old, Vaidisova ranks in the Top 20, holds six career WTA titles and is considered one of the tours most promising young talents.

However, despite her arsenal of shots and talent, Vaidisova has been unable to overcome her biggest obstacle – herself. Harnessing her great temper and maintaining focus on court have been her biggest challenges this season, and just another indication of her need to complete the maturation process. Invariably, Vaidisova ends up defeating herself in matches.

Moreover, while Vaidisova holds six career WTA titles, she has yet to win her first title this season. In 2007, Vaidisova has struggled with injuries and inconsistencies, amassing only a modest record at 29/10.

Favored at -600, Vaidisova is a good bet for the win, but owing to her tendency for on court tantrums, she is not entirely a sure play. Is this an indication that Vesnina is the better bet after all? It is true her odds would payout more should she win (a $100 bet on Vesnina would payout $350), but even if Vaidisova is a tad bit tantrum prone, can Vesnina really defeat her convincingly.

When taking into consideration talent and potential, the balance tips in favor of Vaidisova, making her the better bet.

Here is hoping Vaidisova has a carefree day on court, keeping a level head and topping Vesnina easily.

Tennis Free Pick: Vaidisova in straight sets.
