Tennis Betting – R16 Tennis Picks Federer vs. Nalbandian
by Nila Amerova
Paris, France – Top seed Roger Federer felled Ivo Karlovic 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 to set up a third round clash with David Nalbandian. It will be the first time the two meet since Nalbandian defeated the World No.1 Federer in the AMS in Madrid final two weeks ago. Can Federer (tipped at -450 with BetUS Sportsbook) avenge his loss or will Nalbandian hand out Federer a second consecutive defeat?
Since the start of the BNP Paribas Masters, Nila Amerova owns a 19/4 record in choice tennis picks. Check out the head-to-head breakdown below, and start making money betting on tennis with BetUS – your one stop shop for all your tennis-betting thrills.
Tennis Line: Roger Federer -450 David Nalbandian +275
Match Time: 02:30 PM EST
Tennis Prediction – Aside from losing to Guillermo Canas in back-to-back tournaments this year, and to Rafael Nadal in similar fashion last year, Federer is not a player in the habit of losing to the same player twice – in fact Federer is just not in the habit of losing at all.
Since the beginning of 2004, when Federer hijacked the No.1 ranking, he has compiled a match record of 301-21, averaging a five-match loss record in a season over the last four years, with Nadal and Guillermo the only players to beat him twice during that stretch. With such a daunting record, Nalbandian’s odds of pulling off another victory over Federer would seem almost unlikely.
Federer enters this match with a 65/7 record for the season and seven ATP titles, two of which are AMS shields - Hamburg and Cincinnati. Last week Federer won the Basel title and in so doing clinched the year-end No.1 ranking for a fourth consecutive year. Federer became only the fourth man to seal the year-end No.1 ranking four years in a row, joining the company of tennis greats Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe and Pete Sampras.
At – 450 odds Federer is the better play in this match. There is no player better at exacting revenge for a loss than Federer. In the Madrid Masters, Federer took less than an hour to mercilessly crush Canas 6-0, 6-3 in their first meeting since Federer’s shock back-to-back losses to Canas in the spring. Against Nalbandian, I would expect no less from the meticulous Federer.
