Tennis Betting - SAP Open Quarter-Final Picks
By Nila Amerova
San Jose, California – At the close of second round action on Thursday at the SAP Open in San Jose, five of the eight quarter-final berths were seized by Americans. Top seed Andy Roddick, second seed James Blake and Robby Ginepri advanced comfortable into the final eight, whereas Mardy Fish and up-and-comer John Isner were pushed to the brink, seizing the victory in three sets. With the quarter-final at the SAP Open in full swing today, here is a look at some of the action shaping up with BetUS Sportsbook.
Odds to win the First Set:
John Isner -2½ -105 -180 Over 24 -140
Guillermo Garcia Lopez +2½ -135 +140 Under 24 EV
Odds to win Outright:
John Isner (1st Set) -150 Over 10 -150
Guillermo Garcia Lopez (1st Set) +110 Under 10 +110
Match Time: Not before 05:00PM Eastern Time, Friday February 22, 2008
Tennis Prediction: World No.106 is a promising American tennis talent and towering at 6’9 tall, he is second only to Ivo Karlovic, who stands at 6’10. Isner made his season’s debut at the Australian Open this year, where he crashed out of the first round to Fabrice Santoro. Contesting his second tournament of the season, Isner improves to 2/1 for the season. At -180 favorite odds, Isner despite not seeing much tournament activity is a good play. He holds the edge with home court advantage.
No.75 Guillermo Garcia Lopez of Spain is one of three non-American players still alive in the tournament. Not only are the odds against him, tipped at +140 on the moneyline, but the partisan crowd as well as they will try to spur their homeboy Isner to victory.
Garcia-Lopez reaches his second ATP quarter-final of the season, having lost to Nadal at the Chennai Open quarter-final earlier this year. Bringing a 5/3 record for the season, Garcia-Lopez will try to reach his first semi-final of the year. Garcia has seen more tournament activity thus far in the season, having reached the R32 of the Australian Open, the quarter-final at Chennai and Wroclaw (Challenger circuit event)and the second round of Delray Beach. However, his task could not be more overwhelming today as trying to top Isner in front of a partisan crowd will be no mean task.
Tennis Free Picks: Isner in straight sets
Odds to win Outright:
Andy Roddick -4½ -115 -700 Over 23½ -120 Mardy Fish +4½ -125 +400 Under 23½ -120

Match Time: Not before 11:30 PM Eastern Time, Friday February 22, 2008
Tennis Prediction: World No.6 and top seed Andy Roddick owns a comfortable 5-1 record over fellow compatriot No.77 Mardy Fish, having dismissed him most recently at the 2008 Australian Open 6-2, 6-2, 6-2. The outright favorite Roddick, tipped at -700, is the sure play, and priced at -400 to win the first set , Roddick is the bet to make. The match should be entirely one-sided as Roddick vies for a place in Saturday’s semi-final.
