The prestigious Masters Series in men’s tennis features many players who are coming in to form during the clay-court season and with so much tennis betting action on offer, the online betting community at BetUS Sportsbook need only check out the free tennis picks below to get started betting on tennis.

Tennis Betting Line: Tommy Robredo -210 Juan-Ignacio Chela +160

Match Time: 07:00 AM Eastern Time Tuesday May 6, 2008

Tennis Prediction: Lifetime Robredo leads Chela with a 2-1 head-to-head record, but they have not met since 2006. In terms of their 2008 season, both players suffered a slump bug at the start, only recently finding match-winning form. Robredo arrives in Rome with an 11-9 mark for the year, which includes a quarterfinal run in Barcelona last week and a semi-final run in Valencia a fortnight ago. Meanwhile, Chela brings a 9-9 mark for the year, which includes a first round exit at the AMS in Monte Carlo and a quarterfinal run in Barcelona last week. Both Robredo’s and Chela’s recent turnaround – in clay tournaments ( a surface they both favour) – make the encouraging prospects that would suggest either has a chance of advancing into the second round. For me, the balance tips in favour of Robredo.

Tennis Free Picks: Robredo in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Fernando Gonzalez -200 Janko Tipsarevic +150

Match Time: 07:00 AM Eastern Time Tuesday May 6, 2008

Tennis Prediction: Gonzalez was dealt no favours in the draw in Rome as he opens his AMS Rome campaign against Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia. This is a tricky opening match for last week’s Munich champion Fernando Gonzalez as Janko Tipsarevic is a player, when so inclined, can prove to be a tough opponent to overcome. Gonzalez met Tipsarevic twice last year, beating him in their first-ever encounter before losing to him in the second. Both matches were tight affairs. In London/Queens Club, Gonzalez won 7-6(7) 4-6 7-6(7); at Wimbledon, Gonzalez lost 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 4-6, 8-6.

For Gonzalez, getting off to a winning start during the European clay-court campaign only improves his chances against Tipsarevic, and with confidence in his game, he would appear to be a good bet. However, Tipsarevic raises the level of his game when significantly disadvantaged. In his last two AMS events, Tipsarevic reached the quarterfinal (Miami) and the R16( Monte Carlo). If his two previous Masters performances were an indication, Tipsarevic is an underdog worth banking on.

Tennis Free Picks: Tipsarevic in three sets
